About the Project and Position

IDinsight is working with the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation (BMGF) to support research, data, design, and thought partnership related to Mission Karmayogi - the Government of India’s national programme for civil services capacity building. The programme was launched in 2020 with the objective of enhancing governance through civil service capacity building in India.

We are looking to recruit for a specialised role on this project, dedicated to knowledge management and technical writing tasks. This could include short-term tasks requiring quick turnarounds (e.g. memos and presentations on specific topics), as well as longer-term work-streams (e.g. consolidating Mission Karmayogi’s policy design documents). 

Qualifications

Required:

• Excellent technical writing and presentation-making skills
• Creativity and attention to detail
• Self-starter attitude and interest in state capacity and governance
• Strong ability to work with Microsoft Word/Google docs and Microsoft PowerPoint/Google slides 
• Ability to communicate effectively with client and internal project teams, senior stakeholders to understand the requirements from knowledge products, and tactfully develop content keeping the goals and audience in mind
• Ability to critically think through and define the scope, structure and approach for various knowledge products, and the ability to link program objectives with outputs in a simplified and succinct manner
• Ability to use a combination of secondary research, user research, consistent content audits to develop impactful knowledge products 
• Willingness to deliver as per project objectives, respecting short- and long-term deadlines and maintaining high quality standards for the outputs 
• Ability to develop reusable templates, assets, and best practices for knowledge management

Preferred:

• Prior experience working with the central or state government in India
• Prior experience in capacity building

This would be a great position for someone with strong writing and critical thinking abilities, looking to gain experience working on a large-scale government reform program. The knowledge products and policy design documents developed as part of this engagement would inform the conceptualisation and implementation of Mission Karmayogi, which has the potential to improve capacity-building for millions of civil servants in India.
