Job Responsibilities:
The Managing Director will be a senior and experienced investment professional who has worked in early stage venture capital space. This role will be responsible for sourcing investors and deal flow from his/her network that will lead to investments through AWE Funds into early stage start-ups. The job role is open to all general and diversity candidates, including women on a career break who are looking to return to work. Candidates applying are expected to have at least 15 years of relevant work experience, for example at a venture capital/private equity/investment banking/corporate investment office or accelerator/family office organization, and must have India investing experience.
Job Requirements/Preferences:
- Provide hands-on leadership for all aspects of investment activity—from origination to exit—with the goal of
- investing a significant amount of capital annually into high-quality opportunities
- Source proprietary investment opportunities and create an investment deal flow pipeline
- Validate the business opportunity, establish an investment case, and structure and negotiate terms for potential investments
- Maintain great relationships with entrepreneurs and other venture capital funds.
- Developing and managing the firm's investor relations
- Work with and support portfolio companies, including attending board meetings and monitoring performance to ensure returns and strategic objectives are achieved
- Manage investment associates and team members
Relevant Expected Skills:
- 15+ years in Venture Capital, Corporate Development/Accelerator, Family Office, Private Equity, or Investment Banking. Five+ years of experience leading venture capital negotiation, and execution.
- Success in leading numerous venture financings; Board or Observer roles is a plus.
- Proven experience across the deal cycle from , deal origination: sourcing to exiting investments, including deal analysis, due diligence, execution; viewing and negotiating all documentation, serving as deal interface, and driving deal processes to completion, , portfolio management and exit transaction.
- Highly developed analytical skills with ability to define issues, collect and analyze pertinent data, identify solutions, project consequences of proposed actions, draw valid conclusions, propose sound recommendations, and implement approved solutions in support of specified goals; attention to detail is critical
- Entrepreneurial mindset and the ability to get things done; experience as a founder will be an asset, but not mandatory.
