Position: Director of Operations

Organization: Reality Gives

Location: Mumbai

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

Strategy and Expansion 

  • Visit and carry-on need-based assessment in rural communities across India
  • Identify best ways to support these new communities and design Reality Gives’ expansion strategy 
  • Design impactful and scalable interventions that become the backbone of Reality Gives work in rural India
  • Lead implementation by designing programs, hiring talents, coordinating existing resources, forging partnerships, identifying supporters, develop M&E systems  

Program Management 

  • Assess existing programs, knowledge and expertise and enhance them in alignment to the organisation goals / to the organization expansion’s priorities
  •  Manage existing and new programs, define yearly program plan, set goals and monitor progress
  • Ensure accurate data collection and analysis to improve interventions, take key decisions and provide quality reporting to donors
  • Develop, identify and nurture relationships with programs’ advisors and partners to enhance quality and scale and create new opportunities 
  • Liaise with key community leaders, stakeholders and organizations to strengthen the organization outreach and positioning in the community

Team Management 

  • Provide effective management and support to the team by setting up processes, building leadership skills, coaching the team, provide them with access to resources, training and exposure
  • Review and assess team’s performance against yearly organization and departmental goals
  • Set high-quality standards and ensure Reality Gives’ core values are practised 
  • Organize and manage yearly team meetings, training, key deadlines and ensure they are met 
  • Be a positive role model and inspiration for the team and create a positive and constructive work environment

Finance, HR and Organisation Development

  • Define and manage yearly strategy in collaboration with Management Team 
  • Define and monitor yearly budget in collaboration with Program Team and Finance & HR Director, including approving and monitoring team expenses and respective budgets
  • Oversee HR functioning for the team liaising with Finance & HR Director (onboarding, appraisals, monitoring leaves and work timings etc)
  • Improve and oversee smooth functioning of all organization systems (task management, communication policies, HR systems, etc) 
  • Address any emergency or staff issues arising during routine functioning, discuss the same with management if and when necessary

Donor Management, Grant writing and Reporting 

  • Carry out and oversee fundraising activities
  • Provide a monthly/quarterly report of the organization progress, quantitative and qualitative data to present to donors, board and founders (this could be the Q report)
  • Lead the team to provide timely and quality content for communication, reporting and fundraising
  • Meet with potential and current key donors to build relationships and showcase the organization work
  • Write funding proposals and manage grants in line with organization budgets and goals

KEY REQUIREMENTS 

  • Entrepreneurial spirit, interested in scaling organizations and creating meaningful long-lasting change 
  • Passionate of owning and independently leading key strategic projects 
  • At least 5 years in social sector with experience in program management of education/rural initiatives
  • Minimum 3 years of experience in a leadership and team management role
  • A Masters in Education, Management, International Development or Social Sciences or equivalent degree 
  • Exceptional interpersonal, networking, spoken and writing abilities in English (Hindi essential, other regional languages helpful)
  •  Strategic planner with strong attention to detail and aspires to high standards
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills, ability to prioritise a diverse and demanding workload
  • Interested in and capable of both big-picture thinking and “mucking in” doing work required in a small organisation 
  • Experience in creating need-based assessments and doing research 
  • Willing to travel across rural India and stay in basic accommodation 
  • Excellent IT knowledge including Microsoft Office, Dropbox, Gdrive etc 
  • Interested in using tourism as a tool to connect and inspire people from different backgrounds  

COMPENSATION

Circa INR 10-15 Lakhs CTC dependent on qualifications and experience.
