Position Title: Asst Lab Technician

Location: Gandhinagar

Duration of Position: 11 Months – Extendable up to 3 years

Brief on the Organization:

Indian Institute of Public Health Gandhinagar (IIPHG) is Charitable Trust registered under Bombay Public Trust Act and a Society registered under Societies Act. IIPHG is actively involved in Research activities in the field of Public Health. IIPHG aims to strengthen the overall health system in the country through education, training, research, and advocacy / policy initiative.

Project Brief:

IIPHG NIDHI-TBI FOR PUBLIC HEALTH (IIPHG-NIDHI TBI), is set up under the National Initiative for Developing and Harnessing Innovations (NIDHI) with support of Department of Science and Technology, Government of India. This project is for 5 years (2019-2024).

One of the important activities to establish the TBI-PH includes identification of gaps in the existing domain of public health, where Technology can provide a viable solution. Addressing the solutions and linking technology to improve public health in India would require a new generation of developmental entrepreneurs who combine entrepreneurial zeal, technology, and compassion along with business strategies to build a strong and sustainable organizations through values, skills, and experience. In addition, TBI will help to

1. Identify young people with ideas to solve Public Health problems using technology via a national call of application.

2. Select the best candidates for incubation.

3. Mentor and nurture selected candidates

4. Organize training and provide lab and entrepreneurial support.

5. Help launch social or commercial enterprise.

6. Help in patenting.

This position is of Asst Lab Technician for NIDHI-TBI Centre at IIPHG. The incumbent will work under the direct supervision of CEO also seek inputs from him. He/ She will perform the following tasks.

Key Deliverables:

NIDHI TBI has established a FABLAB which requires a professional to take charge of same having a background of engineering in Electronics & Telecommunication or Computer Science and Instrumentation, Mechatronics, or any other relevant field to perform the following task:

• Management of Electronics lab including maintenance & keeping log of equipment, relevant project writing, screening, and scrutinizing the required specification and make including competitor analysis.

• Supporting TBI to conduct new entrepreneurs, assist in PCB design and development involving sensor interfacing to operating microcontrollers.

• Assists incubate in pilot testing, lab testing and other administrative support.

• Keeping track of and maintaining inventory of consumables and spares.

• Day-to-day, routine, and periodic activities of the FabLab (Electronics) including ensuring that the equipment and software in the lab are properly maintained and are in optimal working condition.

• Ability to carry out regular maintenance and minor repairs of the electronic equipment as well as putting best safety measures and practice for fabrication Lab including developing SOP (Standard Operating Procedures) for the same.

• Debugging electronic glitches and assist the startups in developing the prototype.

• Imparting training relevant to Electronics Lab (Fablab).

• Undertake any other relevant activities assigned for the project and assigned by the CEO/PI of the project.

Qualification: Essential: BE/B.Tech/MSc (ECE)/Electronics/ECE/EnTC/EI/Diploma-holder.

Desirable: M.Tech / Fab Academy Graduate

Experience: Minimum 2 years’ relevant experience post qualification in and/or working in a FabLab. Minimum 3 years’ relevant experience for Diploma Holders

Other desirable characteristics:

Candidates should be techno commercial person with entrepreneurial nature, a commitment to high quality work and a good team player.

Annual Salary (CTC) will be based on the available skills and fitment of the incumbent as per the selection process. The salary will range between INRs. 4.8 - 5.4 Lakhs per annum
