About the Role

Quest Alliance has been working in the secondary school for the past few years. Last year we rolled  out a program to build life skills and career skills using scratch as a medium among adolescent girls (grade 8 and 9) from government schools in urban areas of Bangalore, Hyderabad and Delhi and reached out to 5500 girls.  The program is being implemented through two models, directly by Quest Employees and through implementation partners. Now we are going to scale up the intervention to a few more states and aim to reach 200,000 adolescent girls by the end of three years. We are looking for people who have experience in working with adolescents from government schools that focus on coding/ computational skills/ STEM/ lifeskills/ gender.  

As State Coordinator you will ensure operational stability in terms of programs being delivered, partners supported, Government relationship building and teams being managed efficiently in the state of Gujarat. It is an exciting role for a person who has proven experience of working with secondary school related projects in India especially at multiple state level. 

Responsibilities

Program Implementation 

Ensuring operational efficiency

  • Taking responsibility for effective program delivery by ensuring operational plans are in place for the state team, programs are delivered according to the work plan and reviews are held within the team periodically.  

  • Identify and develop learning within program and facilitate the capturing of these learnings 

  • Lead on identifying and evaluate potential risks related to program delivery and its impact and take necessary steps to mitigate them  

 

  1. Relationship Building and Partnership Management

  • Identify, develop and manage relevant partnerships with other CSOs to implement the program effectively

  • Ensure partner plans are in place, reviews are streamlined and partner reports are coming in on time

  • Develop and sustain the relationship with the Government Education departments and other concerned departments 

  • Coordinate effective field visits for the donors to understand the progress of the program being implemented; this would include scheduling appointments with relevant government ministries. 

  • Lead and participate in all program events to raise the profile of the organisation 

  • Anchor partner visits to align the program purpose and objectives within their ecosystem

  • Represent Quest Alliance in local and state forums and platforms

  • Identify appropriate stakeholders and partners for program delivery as and when required 

  • Ensure MoUs with key partner organisations are in place and operational; 

  • Ensure that key staff at the state and district  Government have a clear understanding of and regular involvement in the programs 

  • Identify opportunities for joint activities with the  government staff (e.g. shared workshops etc.).

  • Share quarterly reports with the relevant  Government officials 

 

  1. People Management 

  • Ensure that all employees have clear performance objectives and development plans. 

  • Manage the designated team, ensuring that they are clear on the change they are contributing to and on their roles and responsibilities. 

  • Support, mentor and coach the team as part of their professional development and help them to be highly effective in their work. 

  • Ensure that the team works together to share learning and to exchange skills

  • Ensure the team managed are able to manage their team effectively

 

 4 . Financial Management

  • Ensure that financial procedures, practices and values are adhered to across the team.

  • Be part of the planning process for the team to ensure effective budget is in place and it is adhered to 

  • Ensure partner budgets are in place and review spend as per the plan, raise red flags in case of any inconsistencies 

 

5 . Monitoring and Evaluation 

  • Work together with M&E focal point to track program Progress based on the Monitoring and Evaluation framework.

  • Lead on reporting both internal and external, in accordance with the program M&E framework and based on the regular reporting agreements of the project.

  • Ensure all the relevant data for your state is available on time 

  • Ensure the monitoring tools are understood by the team and is used for reporting 

  • Support the M&E focal point with baseline, end line and other relevant assessments 

  • Submit all the relevant monitoring reports on time

  • Lead the L 3 review with partners and participate actively in the L2 reviews

 

Requirements

  • Have managed teams in the past

  • Ability to network and build relationship with the Government and partners

  • Proficient in MS Office tools and Internet

 

 

Qualifications

  • A Postgraduate degree in Social Work/Education/Sociology/Social sciences

  • 4-6 years of work experience preferably in the Education sector 

  • Proven ability to network and establish collaborative relationships with a variety of actors, including Education department

  • Good understanding of gendered realities of the adolescent girls and access to higher education

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills in English and state vernacular languages

  • Managing remote teams 

  • A strong personal commitment to the values of Quest Alliance
