Job Description
Position – Career Programme Facilitator
Timing – 10.30 to 7.30
Location – Rotation between two centers of Vidya & Child – Noida - Sector 37 Branch and Noida - Sector 128 Branch.
Target working group – Grade 9 to 12
Key Roles & Responsibilities –
• Managing and executing the full career programme at Sector 128 Centre and providing support for Sector 37 Centre.
• DIRECT WORK WITH CHILDREN
o Direct work – group and individual work with Grade 9 to 12
o Conducting common / group sessions on career, stream etc. awareness for children and parents
o Conducting and / or common / group sessions for exposure around various career fields and opportunities
o Conducting regular Career Guidance classes for Grade 9 to 12 (weekly basis) – with existing as well as new content
o Conducting regular “Knowing the child” sessions to understand the background, interests, strengths etc. and full profile of every single child
o Advise students about what courses and educational programs they need for particular careers ?professional as well as vocational courses, full time as well as part time courses
o Aiding in the job search process by teaching them where to look for open positions and connecting them with job search resources
o Help students locate sources of financial support to pay for school and other training programs
o Teach job-search skills such as interviewing, resume writing, and networking and help students practice them Administer personality and interest inventories and documenting each child’s details with respect to career and related aspects
o Career Form filling sessions; ensuring each child fills the Career Form
o Project work with children
o Organizing exposure visits for children
o Enabling children regarding various entrance examination forms & support in filling them out
• Working with other staff members
o Taking feedback from other members -> academic faculty, programme members, mentors etc. about every single child
o Training of internal staff members
o Attending Child-wise discussion meetings
o Tracking child-wise/group actions as decided during career discussions
o Class 9th & 11th - School identification
• Working with external agencies
o Working with existing partners in career space for psychometric testing, career sessions etc.
o Working with organizations/ agencies for internships, exposure visits
• Overall Career Programme responsibility
o Becoming a part of the career content team and improving upon the career modules used for children
o Becoming a part of the overall career team for full yearly planning, quarterly planning, training of internal staff members etc.
o Identifying needs around –
? Entrance coaching requirements
? Alternative paths for career – vocational, earning with learning model etc.
? Facilitating partnerships / new avenues etc. for fulfilling such requirements
o Becoming a part of the overall career team that plans for career process, improvements, partnerships etc. in alignment with the vision of the organization
o List of College/Institutes/University identification basis courses chosen by children
o Donor related reporting
Minimum Expectations
• Minimum experience of 5 to 6 years in direct career counseling for age 14 to 18 years
• Readiness to do direct work with children and parents (and not just manage / coordinate)
• Being updated with current career fields, jobs, industries, courses
• Good knowledge of Computers and English language – both written and spoken
• Preferably career counseling experience at a similar education based NGO or with a school
• Exposure to psychometric testing, counseling techniques, methodologies
This is a full time position and requires physical presence at the assigned centres. Candidates without relevant experience will NOT be considered. Those with NGO experience and staying within Noida or close by would be given preference.
