Position Description:
Responsibilities:
The Executive Director will –
- Be based out of New Delhi;
- Report to the Secretary of the Board of Trustees (BoT) of CBGA;
- Provide strategic leadership for all programmes and activities of CBGA in accordance with the general philosophy and guidelines provided by the BoT;
- Represent CBGA at various national and international forums;
- Set the organisation’s medium to longer term policy research agenda, and a strategic plan for the capacity building of CSOs on budget issues;
- Develop a 5-year strategic plan for CBGA in consultation with the team and members of the BoT;
- Direct the organisation’s administrative work and manage the team and the operations of the organisation in accordance with CBGA’s vision and objectives;
- Develop proposals and raise financial resources from appropriate funding partners and donor organisations;
- Ensure that the organisation delivers strongly on all commitments made under the ongoing and the future research and capacity building projects;
- Ensure that the organisation fulfils all statutory compliance requirements, and manage all programmes and activities of CBGA
- Develop and manage CBGA’s partnerships with government as well as multilateral institutions;
- Develop CBGA’s collaborations with key actors in the academia and civil society, including the State level thematic groups and those engaged in budget transparency and accountability work;
- Engage proactively with the important actors in the fiscal governance ecosystem in India; and
- Enhance the credibility, policy relevance and sustainability of the organisation.
Eligibility:
The applicant should be a qualified, experienced, and highly motivated professional with –
- A Master’s degree or higher in economics, political science, development studies, other social sciences, management, or any other field of study relevant for the position;
- At least 15 years of work experience;
- Deep understanding of issues relating to budgets and fiscal governance in India;
- Strong grasp over the social, cultural, and political context of India;
- Experience of leading an organisation or a reasonably large team;
- Adequate familiarity with and ability to collaborate with grassroots organisations, CSOs, think tanks, multilateral institutions, and governmental institutions;
- Demonstrated experience as a convenor of a diverse group of organisations or actors towards achieving a shared objective;
- Experience of managing large, multi-year, multi-stakeholder projects related to policy issues;
- Experience of supervising the management of financial resources for an organisation and its projects;
- Demonstrated ability to apply gender analysis to work and a gender sensitive lens to the management of the organisation and the team;
- Excellent written and verbal presentation skills; and
- Strong ability for multi-tasking.
