Roles and Responsibilities
- Conceptualize, design and lead implementation of gender and social analyses in SeEdQUAL, including obtaining ethics review clearance
- Manage the planning, designing and implementation of qualitative and quantitative surveys and other activities related to SeEdQUAl WP 6.
- Develop gender indicators, methods and tools to track for M&E and, evaluate changes in gender responsiveness and inclusiveness of seed systems.
- Co-ordinate/oversee/lead data analysis using the most appropriate and advanced statistical tools to support gender research studies in SeEdQUAL and ensure quality of data
- Lead the development of reports, scientific publications and communication products based on the research studies
- Lead/contribute to the development of research proposals on gender
- Support with strengthening the technical capacity of IRRI and its partners to use advanced tools and methods for gender research and integrate gender in research
- Manage and nurture engagement with internal and external academic, research and development partners and collaborators for project design and implementation and could facilitate implementation of SeEdQUALGender R4D agenda
- Work closely with gender research team across Work Packages and CG Centers in India and Asia to ensure collective impact at scale
- Work with different project management teams and specialists at IRRI, CGIAR and in the GENDER Platform to ensure strong integration of gender
- Maintain regular communication with IRRI HQ, other Country Office researchers, other CG gender researchers to ensure activities are implemented as planned and reporting deadlines are regularly met
- Provide guidelines to internal and external stakeholders (e.g. partners and farmers) considering the implementation of surveys, demonstrations, trainings, and other research activities
- Represent IRRI and OneCGIAR at national and international workshops, conferences, and meetings
- Represent IRRI and OneCGIAR with donors, government institutions, project partners, coordinating bodies and other stakeholders as per project requirements
- Publish research results in high quality disciplinary and interdisciplinary journals
- Establish and manage relationships with key national and international academic, research and development partners and stakeholders
- Lead project monitoring and progress reporting
- Ensure maintenance of accurate data recording and update database for efficient storage and retrieval of information
- Lead the validation and analysis of data and, interpretation of results
- Manage, drive and generate reports on gender research for internal and donor reporting
- Lead development of scientific publications, project reports and, communication products
- Undertake literature reviews, prepare contextual analysis based on the program/project research needs
- Organize regular meetings with partners and stakeholders to discuss, streamline and implement research activities
- Prepare and submit updated research outputs in a timely manner
Qualifications
- Master’s Degree in Social Science; preferred disciplines include sociology and rural sociology, anthropology, gender studies, human geography, development studies or, another discipline which provides suitable knowledge on gender theories and frameworks with a minimum of 5 years of relevant work experience; Or
- Ph D degree in Social Science; preferred disciplines include sociology and rural sociology, anthropology, gender studies, human geography, development studies or, another discipline which provides suitable knowledge on gender theories and frameworks with a minimum of 1 year of relevant work experience

Mandatory
- Has extensive experience in research on gender in agriculture
- Deep understanding of sociological and mixed methods research
- Strong interpersonal and organizational skills
- Proficient in qualitative and quantitative data analysis
- Strong oral and written communication skills
- Team player and able to work independently
- Has ability to multi-task and work in a fast-paced environment
- Can effectively establish priorities and meet deadlines
- Excellent technical report and journal article writing skill
Preferred
Has experience working in and international work environment
Allowances
In addition to the basic salary indicated above, IRRI also offers the following allowances:
- House-Rent Allowance: IRRI provides a house rent allowance of 40% of base pay per month.
- Transport Allowance: A monthly transport allowance is provided to NRS as below: NRS L6: INR 5,000
- Dearness Allowance: One Hundred and Thirteen percent (113%) of employee’s base pay.
- Leave Travel Allowance (LTA): One-month base pay per annum, on availing minimum 2 days of vacation leave
- Education Allowance: INR 1000/- per child per month (limited 2 children)
