Position: Lead – Climate Change Adaptation & Risk Analysis

Organization: CSTEP 

Location: Noida

Responsibilities

Focus-area-specific responsibilities:

· Guide and coordinate the team on policy research related to climate adaptation and resilience, including climate vulnerability and climate risks to natural resource sectors and infrastructure, while exploring the interlinkages between developmental programmes and adaptation at a sectoral and regional or state and national level.

· Lead policy outreach and engagement, and provide thought leadership.

Other primary responsibilities:

· Designing the programme strategy in consultation with the Sector Head, and developing project proposals with the team.

· Leading project teams through development of clear work plans, guiding research, and ensuring work and report quality.

· Driving the impact of research by engaging with policymakers and stakeholders, and advocating research findings.

· Disseminating research findings to stakeholders and playing an active role in outreach through research reports/policy briefs/op-eds, etc.

·Engaging in capacity building, representing CSTEP in various forums (conferences, workshops, etc.), and building awareness about climate risks and support for adaptation among the wider public.

Qualifications

A PhD or a Master's degree in Environmental Science/Climate Policy/Climate Science, or a related field.

Experience

  • 10-15 years of work experience, with at least 10 years of experience working on issues related to natural resource management and climate change.
  • Experience in leading multi-disciplinary teams, and coordinating research across teams with varied experience.
  • Excellent understanding of climate risk, adaptation, and climate resilience.
  • Demonstrated record of lucid analysis and writing.
  • Experience in drafting reports, policy briefs, and journal articles.

Skill Set

  • Ability to mentor and motivate a large team of able researchers.
  • Good project coordination skills and ability to engagement with governments, NGOs, and academicians.
  • Sound knowledge of IPCC climate vulnerability/risk assessment framework and mainstreaming frameworks.
  • Knowledge of current policies and teams working in the adaptation space.   
  • Rigour in research, with a focus on policy ideas and impact.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects and work under tight deadlines.
  • Strong work ethic, timeliness, and discipline       

The selected candidate will be paid a salary as per CSTEP’s norms, commensurate with demonstrated skills and experience.
