Position: Research Consultant

The objective of the Consultancy

The purpose of this consultancy is to provide support in conducting Systematic Reviews under the READ It project. The consultant will work under the supervision of the Project Lead for overall project deliverables. The consultant is responsible for coordinating with the review team, develop protocol, conduct literature searches, screening of abstracts, full paper reviews, finalizing papers for review, data extraction, analysis and synthesis. Support the research team in data analysis, draft the systematic review and submit to the journal for publication.

Scope of Work

The assignment includes the following tasks:

Conduct Searches and Screening:
• Revisit the review protocol developed by the READ It team at USEA
• Conduct the literature searches as per the search strategy and modify the strategy as needed
• Abstract and title screening in coordination with the review team
• Full text review of the final papers to be included in the review
• Support the project lead in identifying new areas of systematic review in TB
• Initiate protocol development for the new area identified with support from project lead and the project advisor

Data Extraction and Analysis:
• Extract the data as per the data extraction formats, develop new formats as required
• Conduct data analysis in coordination with the review team and generate tables in coordination with review team

Review Writing:
• Write the review in coordination with the review team lead and generate the first draft of the review
• Coordinate with the review team for feedback and revise the draft accordingly
• Write the review in line with the standard guidelines as applicable
• Submit the newly developed protocol to READ It team and register at Prospero in coordination with the project lead.

Communication:
• Work in a collaborative, respectful, sensitive manner with review team
• Maintain clear, ongoing communication with the Project Lead about the progress of the review
• It is critical to immediately inform of any issues that can compromise the quality of the review
• Participate in regular team meetings and update the study status

Qualification and Experience:
• Master’s in Public Health / PhD in Life Sciences, Social Sciences with experience in conducting Systematic Reviews evidenced by publications
• Research experience of at least 3-4 years and minimum 5 research publications including systematic reviews
• Demonstrated ability to conduct evidence synthesis, knowledge of STATA/R for analysis
• Demonstrated ability to write research reports
• Demonstrated capacity to work closely, collaboratively and productively with a research team
• Research experience relevant to public health in a community context, knowledge of research methodologies and associated ethical processes.
• Experience in Tuberculosis research is desirable.

Compensation offered:

The gross remuneration budgeted for this position is attractive. Offers shall be commensurate with the qualifications and experience of the selected candidate.
