Assistant Manager

  • 0-0L/Annual

India Welfare Trust is set up with the objective of helping those who help others. Currently, it supports projects that involve giving through philanthropy and through volunteering.

Through #EveryIndianVolunteering (EIV), IWT aims to enable citizens across the country to volunteer their time and skills towards social and civic causes. In order to achieve this, we work with ecosystem partners such as NGOs, corporates, volunteering intermediaries, and various groups and communities, and support them in scaling up their volunteering initiatives. We do not directly implement any volunteering programs ourselves.

We are seeking to hire an Assistant Manager to lead the implementation of several key initiatives to enable large-scale and long-term volunteering. S/he will be instrumental in scaling existing initiatives as well as building new ones with the objective of accomplishing #ProjectOneMillion - enabling one million volunteering hours in 2021, followed by more ambitious goals in the future years!

Roles and responsibilities:

  • Support implementation of volunteering projects with partners, with a target of reaching 1 million volunteering hours in 2021.
  • Build a large-scale community (50k+ members) of potential volunteers on Facebook and/or LinkedIn
  • Coordinate and manage relationships between different stakeholder groups
  • Undertake daily, weekly and monthly tracking of the projects
  • Assist in building new ideas and initiatives aimed at large-scale volunteering
  • Update and add to our National Volunteering Ecosystem database
  • Document learning and insights for replication and scaling projects
  • Source and work with a team of volunteers to assist you with project implementation.

Why is it a great role/what’s in it for you?

  • Get program and people management experience (while engaging over 100 people across various initiatives)
  • Use your skills to catalyze significant social impact through volunteers
  • Tremendous learning and growth opportunities - not only through the networks you build in the role, but hands-on learning working with the sharpest minds
  • Chance to build a large-scale ecosystem on volunteering and civic engagement in India!
  • Work in a start-up-like, dynamic work environment that thrives on being outcome-driven

Qualities required:

  • Strong interpersonal skills to engage all the stakeholders
  • Ability to manage and implement programs and “get results” even without direct control over them
  • VERY responsive - quick to get back to people, always available
  • Fluent English communication (written & spoken)
  • Good with using the Internet- doing online research, compiling & putting things together, Google Docs, Social Media, etc.
  • Reliable & Dependable- punctual, good at meeting deadlines, healthy (must not fall ill frequently).
  • Should have a burning desire to contribute to creating a fairer and more just society.
  • Minimum commitment of 2 years to the role.
  • At least 3-5 years' prior work experience, preferably in project management and operational roles.
  • Location: Preferably in any tier-1 city in India.
  • Must be available to join on or before: May 2021.

** Women willing to start/restart their careers can also apply.

Other information:

  • This is a full-time Work-from-Home Role, working 6 days a week. We offer a fair amount of flexibility in work timings based on need-focusing on work-life integration rather than balance. This requires availability at all times (including Sundays and Holidays) but the freedom to take time off during the week to complete chores. This is a very demanding role requiring a strong willingness to work 50+ hours a week. If you have special circumstances that will prevent you from doing so, we can consider part-time roles. However, we are ONLY interested in hiring people for whom work is a passion, and not people for whom it is merely a source of livelihood.
  • Our work culture is informal and fun-loving since we are a very small team, but we have high expectations of work output.
  • Compensation will be higher than NGO standards but significantly lower than corporate salaries. It will afford a reasonable standard of living and is linked to the candidate’s qualifications and work experience.
