We are a Research and Consultancy organization, working in the social development space. Our clients are international NGOs, Government departments, UN agencies and companies. We provide consultancy services – research studies, M&E, strategy development, project management and documentation, on issues of health, education, gender, child rights, livelihoods, and rural development. Background
Development Solutions is conducting a baseline evaluation to assess the impact of a program aiming to influence digital narratives among young persons on three thematic areas - girl education (girl capital), adolescent and youth health (SRH- Sexual and Reproductive Health) and air quality.
We seek a Qualitative Researcher fluent in colloquial English and Hindi to support the study in Sitapur and Gorakhpur, Uttar Pradesh. We will support the consultants with local linkages for conducting the interactions.

Scope of Work:
Tasks

• Attend training/ orientation on the study, tools, and tasks & provide support as needed
• Conduct MGDs with young persons (inperson) - 4 Groups
• Conduct In-Depth Interviews (IDIs) with with a cohort of local champions (in-person)- 6 interactions
• Number of interactions/districts
• Conduct In-Depth Interviews (IDIs) with with a cohort of local champions (in-person) 
• Take written consent from respondents for the interactions and record all interactions (where respondents provide consent for recording).
• Ensure complete recordings and consent forms are submitted to the DS team.
• Ensure notes in English, in the prescribed formats are submitted to the DS team.

Total Engagement : 6-7 days

Time period of engagement:

• This is an estimate of number of days; the Qualitative Researcher would be expected to maintain a work-log, as per format shared and would be remunerated based on actual number of days of effort, as per agreed rates.
• Any cost of travel for meetings with experts would be additionally reimbursed based on actual costs. The Qualitative Researcher would be expected to adhere to the travel norms, as per DS travel policy.

Please note – The dates and potential days of engagement are tentative; and may vary, depending on the intervention execution

Deliverables:
• Audio recording files for each of the interactions
• Key notes/ points from each interaction – documented in a format shared by Development Solutions

Required qualification and experience:

• Post-graduate or higher in social sciences, development studies, gender studies, or any other relevant discipline.
• Experience of having undertaken qualitative data collection (3-5 years of qualitative interaction experience minimum)
• Experience of having worked with young persons (13–19-year-old persons)
• Experience of having worked on issues of air quality, sexual and reproductive health, and/or girls’ empowerment and education, would be preferred
• Fluency in colloquial English and Hindi
