We are seeking an epidemiologist to join our highly-esteemed and growing Epidemiology group to address complex client needs related to the future incidence and prevalence of disease, and commercially relevant subpopulation within these segments.
The ideal candidate will possess several of the following:
- Previous experience with interpretation of epidemiological data
- Strong quantitative skills and ability to distil insights from large amounts of data
- Ability to summarize and present findings succinctly and in simple terms
- Advanced proficiency with Excel
- Strong client communication skills
Genuine passion for the use of epidemiology in pharmaceutical drug development
Domain/Subject Matter Expertise (20%)
- Developing strong working knowledge in diseases and therapeutic areas assigned
- Research assigned diseases and their risk factors to estimate incidence/ prevalence and develop defensible, evidence based-forecasts over a ten or twenty year period
- Developing strong knowledge of the pharma industry, our client base, their pipelines, and those pipelines’ relevance to epidemiological populations that are, or will become commercially relevant in the future
Execution and Quality (25%)
- Maintain and update epidemiology forecasts for diseases assigned
- Independently identify and prioritize project tasks to ensure timelines are met
- Stay up-to-date on domain-specific trends, news, and epidemiological publications that need to be considered when updating a forecast
- Adheres to product templates and specifications
- Effectively and accurately responds to "first pass" feedback
Technical Expertise (45%)
- Conduct research using data sources such as NHANES, literature, cancer registries, government survey data, and proprietary real-world datasets.
- Develop a strong working knowledge of epidemiological modelling techniques used in different therapeutic areas, and learn to determine which
- Decide on proxy data sources when country-specific sources are not available and be able to defend these decisions internally, and to clients
- Strong writing skills with capacity to explain complex epidemiological concepts, drivers of trends over time, and resulting commercial implications from a pharmaceutical standpoint to audiences who may not be epidemiologists
- Communication/Collaboration (10%)
- Develop strong working relationships with internal customers, provide accurate and timely responses to their queries, and make business recommendations where appropriate.
- Support other programs and units, for instance, by helping to maintain and enhance a sources database and acting as an ambassador for epidemiology forecasting methods to use based on data availability
- Qualification:
- An advanced degree (Ph.D., Master's degree) in epidemiology, biostatistics, health data science or closely related field is required, and must include quantitative components of epidemiology and statistics.
- Some relevant work experience would be desirable, especially in roles involving the reviewing of medical literature and/or the use of SQL to analyze healthcare datasets.
- Proficiency in SQL and/or Python pertaining to data handling i.e. Pandas, Numpy would be ideal
- Knowledge of statistical software such as SAS/STATA preferred
- Proficiency in MS Excel and Word is essential
- Strong interpersonal, written, verbal and analytical skills
- Must be able to translate epidemiological research to a business audience
- Comfortable delivering presentations to colleagues and/or clients
- Role can be based at either our Bangalore or Gurugram offices
