Position: Program Officer – Community-Based Resilience Program (CBRP)

Rise Against Hunger India works with vulnerable indigenous communities to be sustainable food secure. Most of these communities are constantly exposed to climate vulnerabilities and chronic disasters which push them back to situations of further vulnerabilities and food insecurities. Hence, our work on food security must integrate climate adaptation and coping mechanisms into our community programs and ensure that we are having “climate resilient communities”.
The Program Officer is responsible for coordinating and implementing programs that can help vulnerable communities become better prepared to anticipate, prepare, cope, adapt and mitigate disasters. Thus, the primary responsibility of this position is to take care of community-based preparedness and resilience building measures in Rise Against Hunger India operational areas, as well as in other communities. The incumbent will also assist in responding to relief and rehabilitation efforts as and when required.
Qualifications and Experience:
Post-graduate in any discipline with 5 years of work experience and with a minimum of 3 years’ experience in climate adaptation or resilience work.
Significant experience in engaging and working with communities to identify needs, implement programs and services, and build capacity.
Experience in operations and management emergency response will be an advantage.
Must have prior experience of proposal development, government networking and reporting.
Preference will be given to candidates having familiarity with and experience in humanitarian principles, Cluster Approaches in Humanitarian Response, Sendai Framework, UNDRR standards, Sphere Standards etc.
Key Competencies required:
Must have field affinity and ground level understanding of disaster and climate change issues in India.
Demonstrated ability to run things on the ground in a relatively uncertain and difficult environment.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills, demonstrating influencing, collaboration, and negotiation skills.
Must be proficient in independently running technical tools required for data collection, analysis, and reporting.
