Position: Deputy Country Director - Programs

Key Roles & Responsibilities:
A. Leadership, Strategy and Culture
Work closely with AIF’s Country Leadership to establish strategic priorities and translate them into actionable plans for the Programs.
• Lead and drive the execution of the Program strategies as per the 5-year Country strategy at AIF.
• Identify emerging opportunities and challenges within each region, and develop strategies to address them effectively.
• Create and articulate an inspiring vision for AIF’s Programs. • Garner the resources required to support the achievement of programmatic goals i.e. people, funds, strong network with government and other external stakeholders at the national level and where needed at the state level, internal collaboration with functional teams,’ external partners and any other external stakeholders.
• Support the Country Director towards successful governance and reporting practices towards the Board, the Trustees, and the Advisors at AIF, as needed.
• Build an environment of transparency, a culture of collaboration and openness across the organization, across programs and regions. Collaborate proactively and closely with Deputy Country Director X, Technical Leaders, and Country Leadership Team actively to champion this cause.
• Be the ambassador of the organization’s values, visions, and goals across all programs & regions. Create a culture that promotes the display of these values in day-to-day work across the program implementation in regions and at the national level.
• Foster a collaborative,supportive and open work environment between the National and the regional offices & teams, in the matrix structure.
• Partner with Deputy Country Director – X to foster a collaborative, supportive and open work environment between the Functions and the Programs for effective implementation.
B. Program Management
• Lead the Annual Operational planning exercise for all National level projects / Programs as well as for all the regions. This shall include overseeing regional plans, setting accountabilities as well as collaborating with Country Thought Leaders and Deputy Country Director - X.
• Monitor and facilitate program implementation success across regions and foster an environment to support regions’ successes.
• Develop and optimize program management & assessment protocolsfor donors and internal program teams, across regions.
• Provide oversight and strategic direction to the development and implementation of AIF’s programs across regions in India.
Key Qualifications, Skills, and Experience:
• A Master’s degree preferably in Development / Policy / Management / equivalent. The higher degree is preferred but can be relaxed for candidates with exceptional track record.
• 16-20 years’ experience in the development sector with at least six (6) years in senior management roles.
• Strong knowledge and understanding of the social and development issues in India.
• Proven track record of successfully managing and delivering programs/projects, including monitoring, evaluation, and impact assessment, worth at least $ 8.0 million - $10.0 million.
• Prior experience in disaster relief work and humanitarian response at scale will be strongly preferred.
