Research Administrative Officer

Context and Role
The Research Administrative Officer (RAO) will play a key role in all aspects of new funding acquisition at TGI global office through the below functions:

  1. Work with global research funding and support services group, research teams, project teams to identify new research funding opportunities, and prepare high-quality proposals for funding. The responsibility includes tracking upcoming funding opportunities and supporting the development of winning partnerships and proposals.
  2. Strengthen and maintain the research funding (pre-award and post-award) process flows and portfolio of non-traditional funding at TGI.
  3. Support development of proposals for submission to large multi-institutional, multi partnership, government tenders, regional, and other global funding organizations in liaison with technical and finance teams from start to finish.

This role reports to Senior Research Manager, India office, with dotted reporting to  Senior Research Fellow, Health Systems Science, TGI, Australia.

Duties and Key Responsibilities

  1. Monitor funding organizations (philanthropic, national and international, government, and non-government) for open calls, donor forecasts, and communications relevant to upcoming opportunities globally.
  2. Review and summarize new opportunities and potential partnerships in alignment with TGI priorities and strategic plan. Conduct a baseline due diligence of the opportunities in alignment with TGI policies.
  3. Support the Senior Research Manager to develop a proposal team best suited for a specific call, coordinate with research teams, finance, and admin to develop proposals. Be able to share timelines, writing a framework with the team, and distribute work for completion within timelines.
  4. Coordinate research team meetings and workshops and training programs, and support the Senior Research Manager as per need in these activities.
  5. With support from the Senior Research Manager, assist researchers with creating budget drafts under the guidance of finance personnel.
  6. Monitor and ensure responsiveness and compliance of proposals to the solicitation.
  7. Coordinate internal peer review of the proposals drafted prior to submission.
  8. Maintain a proposal calendar and monitor adherence to defined process and deadlines for technical proposals, rosters, proposal budgets, quality standards for proposals. Manage proposal processes independently.
  9. The complete due diligence process post-award and assist the project team with timelines for deliverables on projects.
  10. Keep databases updated and manage other responsibilities in research administration from time to time.

Skills, Knowledge, and Experience

  1. Minimum 2-3 years of experience in research administration in the Health sector.
  2. Experience in putting together successful funding awards/applications.
  3. Experience in grant writing and developing proposal costs/budgets is required.
  4. Be able to work within tight timeline conditions with extreme professionalism and a high standard of quality.
  5. Bachelor or master’s degree in health and allied field. Graduate degrees in other areas will be considered if the applicant has more than 3 years of experience in research administration in research and academic institutions.
  6. Excellent written and verbal communication skills, fluency in spoken and written English is required.
  7. Excellent attention to detail.
  8. Ability and willingness to work across regional offices and global teams.
  9. Be able to prioritize multiple tasks simultaneously and work proactively.
  10. Excellent practical knowledge of MS Office is essential.
