Khushi Baby is a non-profit startup working as the Nodal Technical Service Partner to the Rajasthan Department of Health and Family Welfare. Our mission is to advance maternal and child health in underserved rural and urban communities. Based in Udaipur and Jaipur, we have designed, developed, implemented, and evaluated a novel platform for tracking health at the last mile, which makes use of Near Field Communication technology for decentralized health records on a scalable mobile health platform.

Our 2-year, 3200-mother randomized controlled trial showed that mothers randomized to the Khushi Baby system were 1.66 times more likely to fully immunize their child and 26% less likely to have a child suffer from moderate acute malnutrition. 

Currently, the Khushi Baby system has been used to track the health of over 12.8 million underserved people across the state of Rajasthan and is being used actively by over 60,000 community health workers as a tool for COVID-19 active surveillance. Khushi Baby’s work is secured by a 3-year legal agreement with the Department of Health and has been sanctioned for 17.55 Cr in funding by the Central MOHFW as an Innovation to be funded under the National Health Mission envelope.

Our team of 30 full-time members is looking to welcome a Public Health Strategist who can play an interdisciplinary role to advance our mission as we look to sustainably scale our technology for impact. The Public Health Strategist will work directly with the CEO, COO, CSO, Impact Lead, and Public Health Managers, and Public Health Associates in order to support design, policy, communication, and fundraising verticals. The Public Health Strategist will also interface with senior governmental stakeholders to advocate for Khushi Baby and facilitate uptake of Khushi Baby’s solutions.

Responsibilities:

• Develop new and strengthen existing relationships with senior program officers in State and Central Departments of Health

• Maintain a catalog of national health program indicators and ensure Khushi Baby’s platforms are aligned with reporting requirements

• Ensure alignment between Khushi Baby’s platform and the National Digital Health Mission

• Develop and refine user-appropriate SOPs and training materials to promote effective uptake and implementation of Khushi Baby’s platforms by frontline health workers

• Measure the impact of capacity-building materials and sessions on impact indicators

• Conceptualize and submit grants to support scale-up of new proposed interventions designed to strengthen the overall platform and its overall impact delivered

• Strengthen clinical decision support tools within existing solutions, with user-appropriate feature additions

• Broker partnerships with prospective health partners looking to integrate with the Khushi Baby platform

• Represent Khushi Baby in panels, conferences, and other speaking engagements

Requirements

• Advanced degree in medicine and/or public health from Tier-I institution

• Demonstrated proficiency in English (research-facing and donor-facing) & Hindi writing

• In-depth understanding of the National Health Mission guidelines, Department of Health and Family Welfare governance model and service delivery structure, the role of developmental partners, and current Health Management Information System process and gaps within Rajasthan

• Prior working experience with a role in public health management and with government administration; experience in e-governance preferred

• Prior experience or demonstrated interest in community-based digital health solutions

• Open to travel to engage with health departments from other states

• Able to work from Jaipur
