The Role of the Leadership Coach

The coach plays a critical role in the life of an ISL student. ISL has a team which will facilitate the camps and supervise the alumni ecosystem, but it is the coach who pays personalised attention to the participants. Each coach is attached to a family group of 6-8 students. They act as a big brother or sister who encourages, nudges, challenges and supports their family group over a period of 2.5 months, beginning at the leadership camp. Coaches will participate in all sessions, special events, and staff debriefs at the end of the day

Duration of Engagement:

  • 3 days of online training prior to the camp. The detailed hours of training are put down in the table below. This will be spread across two weekends before the camp. In addition, the coach visits the campsite, for one day, before the commencement of the camp. Participating in all the training sessions is mandatory.
  • 8 days of camp. The camps will run from Saturday to a Saturday with a one day break for students in between. The team of coaches and facilitators will be present for the entire duration of the camp. The break day is also a working day
  •  2 months of post-camp light-touch interaction with students, approximately 2 hours per week
Responsibilities During The Camp: 1. Lead a group of 6-8 participants and work to build them into a family group. Listen to, guide, support, challenge and nudge these students through the experience of the camp. The training sessions serve to provide the coach with all the necessary tools to do so.
  • 2. Provide 1:1 support to the members of the family group for their personal development, as well as for the passion projects that they begin to design at the camp. Facilitate group sharings and discussions in the family group.
  • 3. Support the lead facilitators in various mixed group activities by working with students through tasks and activities.
  • 4. Take on the responsibility for management of technology, time, data collection, displays, seating, and other logistical requirements, under the guidance of the lead facilitators.
  • 5. Document student participation through the camp and report trends and behaviours back to the lead facilitators on a daily basis. 6. Notice and report back if a student needs personal assistance that is beyond the scope of what the coach can provide

Compensation

INR 7,500/- for the entire engagement. Half the amount will be paid at the end of the leadership camp, and the other half at the end of the entire engagement. Certificate of experience to be provided only at the end of the entire engagement.
