Position: Nursing Consultant - Primary Health Care

Key Accountability
Health Systems Transformation Platform (HSTP) works with partners to improve health outcomes for the people of India, focusing on health policy and systems research. HSTP works to improve primary health Care Services through developing competencies of Primary Health Care Providers, including Nurses.
In this regard, HSTP seeks to recruit a consultant to support the competency development framework for nursing with a particular focus on the state of Odisha, in partnership with stakeholders under the guidance and supervision of the Technical Advisor and Chief Executive Officer.
Scope of Work
- To conduct a literature review on competencies of nursing in Primary Health Care
- To develop the competency framework for Primary health care nursing
- To validate nursing competencies for Primary Health Care with the State, National, and other Stakeholders
- To support HSTP and its partners in designing competency assessment tools for Primary Health Care Nurses.
- To participate in meetings convened by the Government and other stakeholders regarding HSTP's and partners' engagement and conduct necessary preparatory work.
- To publish a scientific paper on nursing competency in peer-reviewed journals.
- To provide any other need-based support agreed in consultation with CEO, HSTP for developing Primary Care Provider Competency by HSTP directly or through its partners.
- Any other related matter as required by HSTP and agreed with the Technical Advisor and Chief Executive Officer.
This scope of work may evolve as the work progresses, reflecting the dynamic nature of health systems and policy change in the process.
Knowledge
Expert-level knowledge on nursing competency and good awareness of Primary Health Care, especially for the Public Health System
Skills/ Competencies
- Ability to write proposals, reports, and research papers
- Ability to conduct literature reviews and conduct interviews
- Ability to identify the nursing care competencies
- Understanding of the Primary Health Care Context in Public Health System
- Excellent communication skills, including oral and written communication
- Ability to write scientific papers
- Ability to work under pressure in a fast-paced environment
Experience:
- At least 6 years of working in the Health Sector, especially as a practicing nurse involved in capacity building for nursing cadre.
- Experience in documentation of issues related to nursing, such as academic papers reports.
- Experience of working in Government or partnership closely with the Government or its technical support institutions is desirable.
Qualification: Bachelor of Nursing or above
