Project Brief:
Promoting uptake of Low sodiUm iodized salt by Rural and urban HousehoLds in India: the PLURAl study is a mixed-methods study with two arm non-randomised design. The objective of the study is to estimate the change between the two arms (education on low sodium iodized salt [LSIS] and education on LSIS+subsidy) in the proportion of households consuming LSIS in two sites – Sonipat and Visakhapatnam after implementation of the intervention for six months. The study will have three phases – formative research and intervention development, intervention implementation and evaluation (using the RE-AIM) framework.
Deliverables:
- Help conceptualize the formative phase of the research.
- Develop tools to conduct focus group discussions and in-depth interviews with a diverse range of stakeholders – doctors, patients with hypertension, consumers, manufacturers of low sodium iodized salt, shop keepers, community leaders, etc.
- Conduct focus group discussions and in-depth interviews with stakeholders listed above.
- Manage and analyse the qualitative data to provide critical insights to develop a comprehensive intervention for increasing the uptake of low sodium iodized salt.
- Develop and monitor qualitative indicators of intervention implementation and evaluation.
- Contribute to mixed-methods analysis of the project data.
- Develop manuscripts and reports.
- Any other task assigned by the Supervisor.
Qualification:
Essential:
- Masters in sociology, anthropology or other relevant social sciences
Experience:
Essential
- Around 4-5 years of experience in public health research.
Desirable:
- 3 or more years of experience of conducting qualitative research.
- Analysing the qualitative data and writing the results for publications.
