Job Description

The Behaviour Science Specialist will be responsible for bringing behaviour science insights to conceptualizing, developing and strengthening projects that are designed for large scale implementation in Uttar Pradesh. We are looking for someone that can creatively connect behaviour science for action on the ground, and in formats that are attuned for large scale government operations. This role will challenge your sense of innovation and expand how meaningful you find your work.

Job Responsibilities

The Behaviour Science Specialist will support our team and partners to develop projects for evaluation and then for scale in the state of Uttar Pradesh.

The responsibilities will include:

  • Ideating and setting up new collaborative projects: working closely with the CSBC team, senior government officials, and our partners, to identify new projects with behavioural solutions, and working with the UP BIU team to plan the pathway to launch the projects.
  • Advisory services: Provide rapid advisory services to the government on the integration of behaviour change components into ongoing programmes.
  • Capacity building: of government officials, and partners, enabling them to use behavioural insights in their day-to-day work and programmes and apply them to policy priorities.
  • Stakeholder engagement: explore academic and research institutes in Uttar Pradesh that already specialize in behavioural insights, or have an interest in it, and collaborate with them to develop the understanding and use of behavioural science in the state.
  • Visibility: share findings and documentation from behaviour science work with decision-makers in government, their partners, and the wider public in Uttar Pradesh; this will include a range of formats, from op-eds, seminars, and policy briefings.

Education Qualification/Required Skills & Experience

  • A minimum of 5 years of work experience in multiple behaviour science projects.
  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in economics, social sciences, public policy, sociology or related fields.
  • A track record of working collaboratively in teams and across partner organisations.
  • Strong communication skills; official correspondence, presentations, project proposals, and executive reports.
  • Fluency in English and Hindi (required).
