Position: Literacy Coordinator

Key Accountabilities:
The Literacy Coordinator will support the program implementation through pedagogical and content inputs and capitating team, in coordination with the team lead. The following is the overall job description of the Literacy Coordinator
Program implementation:
❖ Ensuring learning outcome improvement of targeted students in assigned districts under the project, while working closely with the Teachers, Academic Resource Persons and other stakeholders to achieve literacy outcomes.
❖ Design and implement the setting up of Academic Resource Centres at BRC and DIET pertaining to the assigned districts. Develop teaching learning resources(TLRs), training modules and subject contents on the literacy aspect in general and foundational literacy in particular.
❖ Work closely with primary school’s teachers for their continuous professional development in Foundational Literacy aspects and facilitate their academic Leadership.
❖ Regular field visit to provide monitoring and mentoring support to the field team, teachers and other stakeholders towards implementation of the project activities focussed on promotion of literacy skills and competencies amongst all the target children in a multilingual and multi-grade context.
❖ Continuous documentation of the project processes on the assigned domain-especially assessments and identify successful model of the language learning processes and outcomes.
Training and Capacity Building:
• Collaborate on the training and capacity building programs in convergence with the Block and District education department ensuring that, the training outcomes are achieved as planned.
• Coordinate and support in implementing tanning modules, assessment tools, training follow ups etc. Support in preparing training calendar and training implementation plan in convergence with the Department and theme lead.
• Update on job knowledge by participating in educational opportunities, reading for professional development and sharing
Review and Monitoring and Sharing activities:
• Coordinate with the District/Block academic leadership, including DIET, BRC etc. for organizing regular review and monitoring meeting on implementation of the Foundational literacy aspects.
• Conduct periodic review meeting of the field team with specific emphasis on Foundational literacy promotion activities towards overall system strengthening at the block and district level.
• Plan and conduct necessary sharing and dissemination activities with the District/Block academic leadership and other stakeholders for promotion of Foundational literacy activities.
• Any other work as assigned by the Theme lead from time to time
Eligibilities and requirements:
Education:
• Master Degree in Education/ Social Science or relevant academic streams
Experience
• At least 4/5 years of thematic and pedagogical leadership in the relevant field in the areas of teachers training, curriculum development, training module development, instructional material designing etc.
• Program implementation related engagements on thematic aspects with NGOs, Government department, Resource agencies, Academic institutions on literacy theme.
Other specifications
• Good skill in written and oral communication in Odia and English with comfortable skills in word, excel, PowerPoint etc. are a must.
