Job Summary
The candidate would be positioned as the Team Leader for a long-term M&E implemented in Maharashtra and would be supported by other key experts and research team members, working on this assignment .The candidate would be required to spearhead the execution of the assignment and ensure that all project activities and deliverables are conducted timely while ensuring high quality standards. This role would also require the candidate to liaison (with support of Project Coordinator) with client team, Sambodhi consortium team key experts and other stakeholders in order to ensure all the monitoring and evaluation activities are adhering to the agreed timelines was part of this long term project (three plus years). Fluency in Marathi is preferred from the candidates.

Candidates with a personal commitment to development and to fighting poverty, effectiveness in working with teams from multiple practices and with prior experience of successfully leading, designing and executing evaluations will be preferred.
Essential Functions
The candidate will perform the following key functions:
1. Spearhead and guide the project team for project execution and support them in client interaction and
management
2. Represent Sambodhi in meetings and workshops related to the assignment
3. Ensure that all project activities and deliverables are completed timely while ensuring quality
4. Indicative activities with respect to the assignment deliverables include:
 Provide inputs, review and revise the assignment deliverables, prepared by project team and shared by the
Project Coordinator. These would include but not be limited to – approach and methodology notes,
research tools, monitoring finding reports, evaluation report .
 Review all important communication to client
 Provide recommendations and share and learnings after each round of monitoring and provide inputs to
finalize the presentations. Lead the presentations to the client with support from the team.
 Conduct field visits to districts under the projects during as and when required and prepare brief reports
with findings from the field. Information regarding these visits will be provided by the Project Coordinator.
5. Any other task in congruence with above or as per the project requirement
In addition to the functions listed here, similar duties and responsibilities consistent with knowledge, skills and abilities may also be assigned.
Desired profile
Education Doctorate/Advance Masters/Master’s in Social Sciences or related disciplines from Premier
Universities.
Experience
1. 12 + years of work experience in Research and M&E.
2. Experience on contemporary M&E methodologies and practices, with hands-on experience in writing and
publications will be preferred .
3. Extensive experience of working in the social and development research (in the domain of climate resilient
agriculture, agriculture and livelihoods, natural resource management) in the management of large-scale
surveys is desired
4. Candidates with experience of working in rural areas of Maharashtra will be preferred
Personal Competencies
1. High level of involvement, engagement and ownership.
2. In-depth knowledge of Research, Evaluation, Data Analysis & thematic understanding of various sectors in
the social & development domain.
3. Demonstrated competence in leading long-term projects and handling teams.
4. Should have an excellent understanding of the relevant policy landscape and regulatory environment.
5. Ability to manage a multi sector team and a flair for building quality relationships with programme
stakeholders
6. Strong interpersonal and negotiation ability.
7. Strong time management skill and the ability to prioritize.
8. Fluency in Marathi (speaking/reading/writing) is preferred
9. Willingness to travel and be available for meetings as per project requirement.

Job Type and Engagement
The candidate would be engaged on a part time consulting basis with an expected involvement of 8-10 days per month for a project duration of three years. While currently the position is part time, it has the potential to be converted in a full time role ( if mutually acceptable).
