Position: DEI Implementation Officer (Consultant)

Department and Reporting Authority:

The DEI Implementation Officer will be part of the Executive office and report hierarchically to the MT Strategic Advisor.

The Diversity, Equity and Inclusion initiative is articulated around 4 objectives :

  • Coordinate a programme of work, to bring together high-level initiatives in relation to DEI ambitions in South Asia.
  • Contribute to plans and actions to create a safe space within MSF South Asia to be a more inclusive and supportive environment
  • Act as the crossroads for where all initiatives in the MSF South Asia space meet, providing overarching guidance and advice to those involved, coordinating cross-departmental and cross-Executive and Associative initiatives, and bringing together progress of the regional office and section in relation to DEI to share with those interested.
  • Collate and prepare monthly report on progress made on DEI initiatives against SP 2020-23 and present opportunities and barriers to MT with mitigating strategies

The role of the position is, together with the support of the DEI working committee, to develop, implement and monitor select projects within the DEI 2021/2022 Annual Plan.

Objective of the Consultancy:

  • To coordinate and synchronize the initiatives of the various MSF entities in South Asia to sustain a holistic DEI vision in the region, and identify ways of incorporating DEI as a cross cutting theme in all key departments/projects of MSF in South Asia
  • Provide strategic guidance to ensure the project’s success (i.e. which DEI related topic to address next, which key actors to reach next, what partnerships with external experts to establish, etc.)
  • Work with DEI colleagues in other MSF offices to achieve common goals
  • Work with DEI Working Committee to develop a roadmap towards achieving DEI intentions, including when and how to begin integrating learnings into a comprehensive, equitable, inclusive safeguarding system for MSF South Asia.
  • Quickly achieve a good understanding in relation to DEI on existing systems, initiatives, policies, infrastructure and overall organizational culture and behaviour in order to propose a more equitable, inclusive, and safeguarding system.
  • Conduct a series of awareness raising trainings/studios with all office staff, SARA focal points, SARA board in conjunction with L & D.
  • Ultimately, re-examine the participants to gauge the impact of these trainings and studios
  •  Propose expert for audit of MSF policies and processes from DEI lens. Work with Learning and Development and DEI Working Committee to develop a DEI-implementation training package on how to integrate DEI measures in existing systems and processes, and how to organically merge DEI into new policies, and identify tangible tools to measure implementation of identified DEI initiatives
  • Construct an engagement, communications and accountability plan until end of current Strategic plan. that will enable MSF South Asia to have a structured approach to sharing the story of DEI.

Requirements:

 Prior experience in the following essential.

  • Background in Social work, Organizational Behaviour, Human rights Law, Disability Studies as well as Project Management experience.
  • Have a proven track record in providing strategic guidance, governance and managing projects across organisations and constructing holistic engagement plans for various partners, both within and outside the organisation
  • MSF experience or good knowledge of MSF is highly desirable
  • Experience in implementing DEI projects is essential
  • Passionate and knowledgeable on the topic of DEI
  • Empathy and ability to inclusively work with a wide variety of staff members, association members with demonstrated experience in cross cultural awareness
  • Excellent communication skills, verbal and in writing
  • Good interpersonal and networking skills
  • Result orientated
