KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES (not all-inclusive)
Specific deliverables include:
1.Prepare a data collection and analysis plans, based on the agreed framework
2.Undertake a thorough literature review by using various relevant data sources related to humanitarian response.
3.Collect and compile primary and secondary data from various sources, identify information gaps and highlight them to the Advisory group and Principal Researcher,
4.Designing questionnaire in consultation with the Principal Researcher for collecting information from stakeholders and compiling and analysing data so collected
5.Conduct interviews with the key informants from the key actors of humanitarian sector (government, private sector, UN agencies, NGOs/CSOs, donors) of India
6.Carry out the preliminary analysis, along with the Principal Researcher, and present to the Advisory Group for feedback.
7.Based on the feedback from the Advisory Group, lead the preparation of case studies of specific events and the capacity of the humanitarian system to respond, including the COVID pandemic.
8. Conduct the aid recipient surveys under the guidance of the Principal Researcher.
STANDARD MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE
Education:
Advanced University degree or First level university degree with additional five years of related work experience in lieu of advanced degree and/or trainings/courses from an institute of repute in humanitarian systems, economics, statistics, political science or similar.
Experience:
Minimum five years’ of progressively responsible professional experience working around research and/or academia, with proven success in publishing academic papers and reports. Experience in evaluation for accountability and learning is desired, along with experience working with a diverse range of entities, including the Government of India.
Competencies & Skills:
•Should have excellent research and analytical skills and ability to identify larger patterns and divergences including information gaps/limitations in findings.
• A good understanding of Indian context, disaster relief, response and preparedness, international development scenario and complexities of working in the field of disaster, health & nutrition, and humanitarian response.
•Excellent writing skills in English with ability to express synthesized/summarized messages accurately and simply.
