Remuneration: 764190/- per annum

Context of the Role Environment conservation is one of the most important issues at hand today. Climate change is affecting our lives like never before - damaging the air we breathe, polluting the water we drink, increasing our vulnerability towards extreme weather.. But one individual, organisation or government cannot address it. It has to be a global movement that will prompt behavioural changes in communities that will help slowdown and hopefully stall the deterioration. Communication and engagement with our stakeholders is an important aspect of this mindset shift.

Greenpeace seeks to:

● protect biodiversity in all its forms

● prevent pollution and abuse of the earth’s ocean, land, air and fresh water

● end all nuclear threats

● promote peace, global disarmament and non-violence

Knowledge:

➢ Basic knowledge of the most relevant environmental issues in the city/region

➢ At least 2 years of professional experience with a campaigning organization as a mobiliser, creating volunteer groups or grassroot campaigning groups or similar profile.

➢ Good knowledge of at least 3 languages – English, Hindi and Kannada language

➢ Knowledge of the use of theatre and art as mobilisation tools (preferable)

➢ Knowledge of modern campaigning tools and techniques, and how and why to build people-power

Skills & Experience:

➢ Ability to work as a collaborative leader

➢ Experience in initiating contact with and maintaining contacts with groups/associations

➢ Demonstrable skills in interpersonal communication – clarifying and communicating vision & long-term goals, resolving conflicts

➢ Experience in using a variety of communication & engagement tools to motivate people

➢ Prior experience in volunteering with a campaigning organisation and/or creating a volunteer local group or grassroots campaigning group would be an advantage.

➢ Familiarity with Facebook, blogs, Whats App, and online tools for grassroots organizing.
