Job Title: Project Coordinator

Department: Programme and Policy

Location: Delhi

Function:

  • Programme & Policy covers Programme Implementation (with partners or direct implementation), Thematic Expertise (technical knowledge in areas of specialization), and Policy & Programme Impact (advocacy, research, monitoring & evaluation, and quality).
  • The function links grass-roots work with policy changes at the highest level, and manages an ecosystem of partnerships including, but not limited to, community organizations, donors, peer organizations, academic institutions, media, and the state.

Role Purpose:

S/he would be responsible for implementation of the project deliverables in the project geography and ensure that the envisioned outcome of the project are accomplished with quality programming and contributing to the success of organizational strategy & breakthroughs.

Main responsibilities:

  • To ensure 800 children (3-5 years) are able to access quality ECCE services through functional child-friendly Anganwadi Centres (ICDS centres) by working closely with AWWs and parents
  • Ensure training of project staff, parents (1200), AWWs (50), 50 Helpers & 6 Supervisors on ELM
  • Ensure training of staff, parents and AWWs on Building Brains (below 3 years) and ELM at Home (3- 6 years)
  • To develop and procure available pre-school education kit, play and other resource material (workbooks, activity books, worksheets and supplementary material) in all 50 Anganwadi Centres and orient AWWs, AW Assistants, and Project staff on its usage
  • To work closely with CP team and AWWs and design BLES components for all 50 AWCs and ensure implementation
  • Plan with project team on the ECCE celebration that is to be conducted on a monthly basis and ensure implementation
  • Printing, procurement and purchase of any learning materials related to ECCE and MAC to be discussed and finalized
  • Draw up the schedule plan of MAC and orient staff on running of MAC and its activities
  • To seek permission from DWCD & Education Dept to work in schools and AWCs
  • To set up resource rooms in 8 schools in year 2
  • To seek permission to set up resource rooms in 8 schools
  • To support in seeking permission to make 30 AWCs child friendly
  • To conduct any other training which is relevant through cross- functional learning
  • Develop a brief note on the model of MAC (module) and its key functions
  • Orientation and training of 40 teachers and staff on BLES in elementary schools
  • To support in conducting the baseline study wrt education components and facilitate data collection in AWCs and Schools
  • Support in achieving the overall objective of the project through campaigns, additional trainings and capacity building workshops.
  • Any other support required as part of the project objectives and deliverable
  • To train the project staff on the various pedagogies and concepts of ECCE & Education
  • Contribute to and enable the concurrent monitoring and reporting on performance indicators
  • Monitor progress of project objectives and help measure impact objectively by using a quality MIS.
  • Plan and undertake regular project monitoring through field visits, review meetings and provide guidance/feedback to the project team; Analyze and evaluate data and/or take progressive action when necessary to meet programme/project objectives
  • Ensure timely, accurate, and effective donor reporting (viz. annual & half-yearly reports, information requests, activity status updates, queries, field visits, donor engagement calendar etc…)
  • Coordinate and lialise with different Govt. departments at the state & district level.
  • Proactively collaborates within state and/or thematic programme colleagues to give capacity building inputs and receive knowledge and assistance.
  • Undertake donor/s visits and manage interns, other visits as and when required
  • Represent/participate in the inter-departmental and consortium meetings (if requested) on behalf of the project and provide strategic inputs to benefit the project beneficiaries at large
  • Ensure evidence based implementation of Child Safeguarding within the project scope
  • Any other task as assigned by the state project lead

Skills & Knowledge:

Essential (Required): 

 

  • Understanding about Child Rights and Protection framework, laws & legislations, trends -and development
  • Understanding of policy and child rights environment in the state of Delhi
  • Understanding on Child Labour issues in Delhi and the CP structure of Delhi state
  • Demonstrated ability in working in the area of Education
  • Understanding of civil society’s role in the state on child rights
  • Experience of partnership management with NGOs & consortium partners and demonstrated government collaboration
  • Experience of working with education system, especially on out of school children & children engaged in labour issues
  • Proven collaborative work with the state/district governments.

Desirable (Asset):

Experience in working on Child Labour issues and curbing it, working with ICPS structures, through a focus on ECCE & Education. Working in a consortium based model project will also be valued
