Inter-Ministerial Board Team - Startup India Initiative

Roles and Responsibility:

The Department for Promotion of Industry and Internal Trade (DPIIT) validates Startups for granting income tax related benefits. A DPIIT recognized Startup shall be eligible to apply to the InterMinisterial Board for full deduction on the profits and gains from business. The meetings are held monthly and currently 369 startups have been granted this exemption. The IMB team looks after the processing of applications for DPIIT recognition. The work also involves processing applications for 80- IAC exemption, Section 56(2)(viib) exemption, coordinating with the relevant stakeholders and conducting regular IMB meetings. The candidate is expected to work on the following

• Evaluation of Startup business models for DPIIT’s recognition and enhancement of government’s due diligence process

• Co-ordinating with the IT Agency for continuous improvement of the application portal

• Co-ordinating with knowledge partners and preparing a brief for IMB meetings

• Co-ordinating and ensuring timely conduction of the IMB meetings

• Enhancing government and Startup interface through query channel and type analysis and suggesting ways to improve reach and impact of program

• Data analysis and handling of a large database, including identification of key trends and insights

• Streamlining and monitoring existing processes

• Providing necessary inputs for introducing and implementing new processes in line with the objectives of the Department

• Address ad hoc requests from DPIIT such as preparation of reports, briefs etc.

Qualifications:

The candidate should have:

• At least 4 years of full-time work experience at a leading Corporate/Consulting firm

• Post-Graduation from a Tier-I or Tier-2 Institute

• Experience in Government Advisory and Public Policy will be preferred

• Experience in Policy facilitation, Project Management with the State Govt. or Govt. of India will be preferred

• Ability to work in teams and independently take responsibility for delivering key results

• Strong communication, research, and analytical skills
