NEERMAN Fellowship
NEERMAN
Duration: six to twelve months
Objective of the Fellowship
Collaborate with NEERMAN to publish a manuscript in fields such as social sciences, epidemiology, economics, and policy journals using India specific data (primary data collected by NEERMAN) or secondary data. The fellowship also envisions dissemination and promotion of the research in conferences. The research should use robust methods and address important questions in sectors such as water?sanitation?hygiene, nutrition and growth, maternal and child health, agriculture, gender and women empowerment, child protection, energy, environment and climate change, and education.
Eligibility:
- Preferably from top and recognized universities in the world
- Should be an enrolled in a masters or doctoral programme
- Good understanding of research methods in any relevant field (social sciences, economics, policy, epidemiology, etc.)
- Command on necessary research skills – statistical analysis (using STATA preferred), systematic reviews, qualitative analysis, writing skills (native proficiency
Fellowship Amount:
For 2020?21, three fellowships are available with following funding support (each up to $5,000).
- $3000 for publishing a paper with NEERMAN co?authors: The amount would be paid in three instalments of $1000 on draft paper, $1000 on submission to a journal, and $1000 upon publication.
- Upto $1000 towards open access journal publication fees (at actuals. If fees are higher, they need to be paid from other resources available to the fellow)
- Up to $1000 for presenting papers in conferences (not guaranteed, but depending upon type of conference, associated expenses, and relevance for NEERMAN’s research)
Procedure for Application
Interested candidates should submit the following:
- Two?page statement of purpose making a case for (a) motivation for the research question, (b) abilities and skills for the proposed research, (c) commitment to publishing the article, and (d) plan for managing other competing tasks and time.

- Two?page (maximum) proposal: propose research questions, analysis plan, and publication strategy
- A sample of your written work (such as a paper, article or a report mainly written by the applicant; not edited by others)
- Details of institutional mentor (optional): If you seek to write this paper under mentorship of your institutional guide or a senior researcher, then kindly describe their role, authorship expectations, accountability in ensuring that the paper is published.
