ABOUT THE ORGANISATION:
The Emergency Outbreak Response Platform is created to propagate the optimal design of resilient supply chains that can withstand pandemic challenges. The platform will provide knowledge, collaboration, mentorship, training and simulation to make forecasting and the overall health commodity supply chains more resilient. Resilience building through training opportunities and continuous support via technical assistance, mentorship and knowledge resources will ensure a high level of capacity as well preparedness going forward. Hence ‘future-proofing’ the countries against similar challenges as faced in the current pandemic and making the resilience perpetual.

This platform has 5 key features including Learners, Mentors, Courses, Resources and Collaboration. It will allow supply chain professionals to easily access peers, national and international mentors, take any number of courses and access any type of resources (videos, PDFs, podcasts).

Need for Continuous Learning

Unfortunately, in most countries, health and disaster management systems are not designed to manage, update and disseminate knowledge and information on a continuous basis. Further, the classical approach of classroom training of health staff is difficult to scale, and is also challenging to measure the impact of the training.

Given the high possibility of future shocks to the population and the healthcare systems, it is vital to design a resilient system that will acquire and disseminate critical information in a timely manner for strengthening health and humanitarian staff.

The platform provides easy and user-friendly access to training resources and knowledge resources, fosters collaboration and knowledge sharing besides mentorship, coaching and technical assistance by experts. In effect, this will lead to the creation of a community of practice (CoP) comprising of epidemic response forecasting and supply chain professionals.
