The Good Food Programme (GFP) works at the intersection of farmed animal welfare and food systems in collaboration with effective local and international charities to end factory farming, promote animal welfare, and plant-based diet for all. GFP is an initiative by Center for Inclusive and Sustainable Community Development (CISCD) and DDRF Nepal. GFP is a member of Harvard University based Planetary Health Alliance (PHA) and Alliance of Animal Law of Asia (AALA). 

Purpose:

The purpose of the Sentient Media Social Media Fellowship is to train and engage Social Media Fellows and Volunteers from around the world to build a supportive community for high-impact animal advocates, improve their understanding of the issues facing nonhuman animals, and help them get animals’ stories in front of mainstream audiences. Together, we are advancing the conversation about animals through topics like factory farming, plant-based foods, social justice, and the environment while encouraging humans from all walks of life to consider their relationships with animals more deeply.

● Learn how to craft social media posts and other online contents (such as blog posts, newsletters, etc.) as well as design campaigns on animal welfare

● Gain firsthand experience and mentorship with experts in social media and animal advocacy.

● Certificate, upon successful completion of the assignment/fellowship.

Key Tasks:

The Social Media Volunteers shall perform the following tasks under GFP/Social Media Fellow:

● Create social media content on animal welfare.

● Promote animal welfare related contents through social media.

● Take part in (bi-) monthly webinars/ meetings with the team members.

● Track the effectiveness of our social media work and recommend ways forward

● Test content and review its impact.

● Organize webinars and meetings with different stakeholders on animal welfare.

● Assist in partnerships building with different organizations.

Qualifications/Requirements

● Willing to commit 4 months from May/June - August/September 2021 (3-5 hrs/week)

● Applicants of any nationality can apply.

● Preference will be given to those who are comfortable working in the Nepali Time zone.

● An interest in, knowledge of, or willingness to learn about animal welfare and animal rights.

● Experience of using Microsoft Office, including Word, Excel.

● An understanding of different types of marketing and communications media, including electronic and social media.

● Proficiency in English is encouraged since all of our content will be written in English.

● Ability to transform small snippets of information into interesting and engaging stories suitable for Twitter, Facebook etc.

● The ability to work well in a diverse team.

● Bachelors/Masters (running/completed) in journalism /social sciences / development studies /agriculture sciences/any other relevant discipline.
