About the Position
WGH India is currently seeking a Research and Fundraising Consultant under the Gender and Universal Health Coverage (UHC) project in India. The project involves conducting research, generating knowledge products, and hosting knowledge-sharing events to advance Gender-Responsive UHC in the country. The research and fundraising specialist will lead the research-related activities under the UHC project and support grant writing, and advocacy efforts of the WGH India Chapter. This role requires expertise in research methods, especially qualitative research methods, grant writing, stakeholder engagement, policy advocacy, and convening outreach
events. This consultancy is short-term, extending until December 2024, with the possibility of extension contingent upon funding and performance.
Roles and responsibilities
Research
● Conduct comprehensive research to assess the current status of Universal Health Coverage (UHC) and gender equality in India.
● Identify key findings, trends, and disparities, and propose actionable policy interventions and strategies to address gaps and improve healthcare access, quality, and equity, particularly focusing on addressing gender-based barriers and inequalities in healthcare.
● Identify key stakeholders involved in promoting UHC and gender equality in India, including government agencies, NGOs, healthcare providers, community-based organizations, and advocacy groups.
● Develop high-quality research articles, reports, and other knowledge products.
● Support preparation of newsletters and other chapter-related publications.
● Identify areas for research within the thematic areas of mainly UHC and gender equality, and build the knowledge base.
Grant Writing and Fundraising
● Conduct thorough research to identify potential grant opportunities that align with the vision and mission of WGH Global and India Chapter.
● Develop grant proposals by conducting background research, drafting project plans, objectives, and outcomes, preparing MEL frameworks and budgets, and ensuring that proposals meet the requirements of potential funders.
● Develop a fundraising strategy detailing WGH India’s approach to securing financial support, including an overview of the funding landscape, target donors and funding sources, strategies for cultivating relationships with donors, and timelines and benchmarks for fundraising activities.
Policy Advocacy and other responsibilities
● Identify opportunities for collaboration and partnerships to enhance the growth and visibility of the India chapter. Identify key advocacy platforms for working on gender equity and UHC.
● Develop WGH India advocacy strategy with specific efforts to strengthen internal (membership engagement and networking) and external stakeholder engagement.
● Develop op-eds and short written outputs on various chapter activities to enhance the visibility of WGH India’s work.
● Represent WGH India in external forums, events, and meetings as required.
● Support any other WGH India Chapter development activities as they may arise.
Qualifications & Skills Required
● Master’s in Gender studies, Public health, Social sciences, or any related field
● 3–4 years of research experience in the space of health and gender
● Passion and knowledge of gender issues and their intersection with health and development are essential
● Familiarity with qualitative analysis software like NVivo or ATLAS.ti is desirable
● Excellent communication and coordination skills, both written and verbal
● Cultural sensitivity and ability to work with diverse stakeholders
● Ability to work independently as well as collaboratively in a remote setting, with a key focus on deliverables.
● Proficient IT skills in Word, Excel, PPT, AI tools, etc.
● Based in Delhi/NCR region or willing to travel for team meetings as required.
Compensation: Upto INR 60,000 to 65,000/- per month
