 INDIVIDUAL - We enable access to basic civic amenities, healthcare, education, and livelihoods necessary for individuals to survive, feel secure and grow.

 COMMUNITY – We empower the community to help themselves, by building their capacity as Volunteers.

 GOVERNMENT – We ensure the provision of civic entitlements through advocacy withthe government.

Job Description:

An Advocacy Manager will be responsible to co-design and manage the advocacy work at Apnalaya. She/He should have the experience, expertise, and skills to design and monitor projects around Government, Civil Society Organisations, Academic Institutions, Corporates and Foundations. Theperson would also be involved in stakeholder management, liasoning and supporting the citizenship approach of Apnalaya.

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES Role:

Networking and Advocacy:

1. Develop and execute a comprehensive urban poor and government relation strategy to support the organisation’s overall plan.

2. Monitor and analyse government’s policies, legislation, regulations and industry trends that impact the urban poor in India.

3. Build strong relationships with key government officials, corporates, academic institutions and NGOs to proactively advocate for the organisation’s interests and influence policy decisions.

4. Represent the organization in relevant forums, conferences and working groups to promote our position on urban poor and build strategic alliances with key stakeholders.

5. Lead the development and implementation of effective advocacy campaigns. 

Desired Candidate Profile:

Essential:

 Postgraduate in social sciences – MSW, Political Science, Development Studies, interdisciplinary sciences

 Minimum of 3-4 years’ experience working with non-profits, CSR or government allied organisations in social development.

 Ability to learn new tasks and work within team and across different functions of Apnalaya.

 Technically quipped in data analysis – quantitative and qualitative and ability to independently write analytical documents.

Desirable: Understanding and experience working on urban governance issues would be an added advantage.
