About Project: Prison Intervention under Global Fund Project.
Expanding on the previous grant's efforts, which involved executing the "Prevention Package" component for prison and other closed settings (OCS) interventions across 28 states and 7 Union Territories under GFATM GC 6. Now, HLFPPT will implement prison intervention in 15 states under GF grant 2024 - 27. The intervention will be implemented in all prisons like Central Jails, District Jail, Sub Jail, Women's Jail, Borstal House, Open Jail, Special Jails and other closed settings like Nari Niketan, Swadhar Greh, Ujjawala across states. The prison intervention program aims to address HIV, TB, STIs, and Hepatitis B and C among incarcerated populations by targeting prison inmates, high-risk subpopulations, individuals with pre-existing medical conditions, and released individuals transitioning into society. Strategies include enhancing awareness, preventing new infections, facilitating access to services for released inmates, and building ownership among prison authorities. The intervention aims to universalize NACP/NTEP interventions, implement a mix of service delivery models, conduct intensive screening campaigns, and achieve targets.
