ROLES & RESPONSIBILITIES –
As a mental health team member, your role and responsibilities may vary depending on the specific setting and organization you work for. However, here are some common roles and responsibilities associated with being a member of a mental health team:
1. Assessment and Evaluation: Conducting thorough assessments and evaluations of individuals experiencing mental health concerns to gather relevant information about their condition, history, and current needs.
2. Treatment Planning: Collaborating with the individual and other team members to develop comprehensive treatment plans based on the assessment findings. This may involve setting goals, selecting appropriate interventions, and creating strategies for ongoing support.
3. Individual Counseling: Providing one-on-one counseling and therapy sessions to individuals experiencing mental health challenges. This can involve using evidence-based therapeutic techniques to address specific issues and promote emotional well-being.
4. Group Therapy: Facilitating group therapy sessions to create a supportive and therapeutic environment for individuals with similar mental health concerns. This can involve leading discussions, implementing group activities, and fostering a sense of community.
5. Crisis Intervention: Responding to and managing mental health crises and emergencies, such as suicidal ideation, self-harm, or acute psychological distress. This may involve conducting risk assessments, ensuring safety, and coordinating appropriate interventions.
6. Psychoeducation: Educating individuals, families, and communities about mental health topics, conditions, and available resources. This can involve providing information about symptoms, treatment options, coping strategies, and destigmatizing mental health issues.
7. Collaboration and Consultation: Working collaboratively with other mental health professionals, such as psychiatrists, psychologists, social workers, and nurses, to ensure comprehensive care for individuals. Consulting with colleagues about complex cases, seeking guidance, and sharing expertise are also part of the role.
8. Documentation and Record Keeping: Maintaining accurate and confidential records of client interactions, assessments, treatment plans, progress notes, and other relevant information in accordance with legal and ethical guidelines.
9. Continuous Learning and Professional Development: Engaging in ongoing education and training to stay updated with the latest research, therapeutic modalities, and best practices in the field of mental health. Attending conferences, workshops, and supervision sessions can contribute to your professional growth.
10. Advocacy and Support: Advocating for the rights and needs of individuals with mental health challenges, promoting awareness, and reducing stigma surrounding mental health. Offering support and encouragement to clients and their families throughout their treatment/counselling journey.
Qualification & Experience:
Graduate/Post Graduate: B.A. /M.A. in Social Work (Mental Health), Psychology,
or Equivalent.
Experience of fieldwork with marginalized communities is preferable but not
mandatory.
Preferred Skills
Fundamental knowledge of MS Office
Fluency in English and Hindi
Good communication and Demonstration Skill.
Self Driven and Ability to withstand stress.
Teamwork Skills
Training in Art-Based Therapies
