Position: Senior Programme Officer - Agriculture Expert

ESSENTIAL CRITERIA FOR THE ROLE
- Minimum Bachelor's degree in Agriculture or Agribusiness Management
- At least 4-5 years of experience in the field of sustainable agriculture with civil society organization
- Well versed with the operational structures and the relevant schemes of the Central and State Department of Agriculture and other allied departments/institution both in state as well as district level.
- Excellent communication and public relationship skills with a temperament to handle the multiple tasks within the system.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills in Hindi and Gujarati is a must. Working knowledge of English language will be an asset.
- A Candidate with a driving license of two-wheeler will be preferred.
- Experience of working on Excel, PowerPoint and other basic IT tools will be an added advantage.
- Demonstrated experience of cultural awareness, understanding and sensitivity.
CORE RESPONSIBILITIES, DUTIES & TASKS
Project co-ordination:

- Lead the interventions as planned under Climate Smart Agriculture theme in Junagadh.
- Identify & address gaps to fulfil program objectives and deliverables.
- Organize farmers’ meetings to promote organic farming.
- Provide technical training and capacity building support to farmers around chemical free/organic farming and agricultural innovations.
- Familiarity with popular techniques like FFS (farmer field school), PTD ( participatory technology development), SRI (Systems of Rice Intensification), CA ( conservation agriculture), etc
- Create knowledge products, training modules and relevant tool kits.
- Promote and nurture FPO at the block.
- Ability to prioritize assignments as per requirement and multitask as needed.
- Building and maintaining rapport with community, CBOs and other relevant stakeholders.

Management:

- Ensuring logistic support for key internal and external stakeholders, as and when required.
- Undertake any other task assigned by supervisor(s).

Planning:
|
- Support in preparing action plan for the proper implementation of the activities.
|
Monitoring:
|
- Ensuring quality of the programme through regular field visits.
- Ensure proper selection of the beneficiaries of the program as per the prescribed criteria.
- Willingness to travel extensively in order to ensure smooth implementation of project and quality output.

Documentation and knowledge management:
|
- Developing case studies, success stories for learning and development.
- Support innovative approaches/processes including executing pilot projects and deriving new learning insights.
- Submit monthly report on the interventions and the outcome.

Stakeholder Management:
|
- Cultivate and nurture effective relationships with key stakeholders.
- Liaise with district and block level government official for convergence and leveraging resources for effective implementation of the programme.
