The Child Rights Fellowship (CRF)

The Child Rights Fellowship (CRF) offers the unique opportunity to work with the Government of Delhi to safeguard children's rights to survival, protection, and education!

Stipend: Rs. 50,000/- per month, subject to taxes, including reimbursement of Rs. 5000/-

Location: Delhi

Fellowship Period: March 2021 - March 2022

About the CRF Programme

Over the last few years, the Government of Delhi has been at the front and center of driving the mission of child welfare, development, and protection. The Delhi Commission for Protection of Child Rights (DCPCR) spearheads the responsibility of safeguarding the rights of children in the region. These rights are the product of a vast and interconnected system, which is situated at the intersection of health, education, and safety.

To catalyze the progress of strengthening Child Rights in Delhi, Ashoka University seeks to collaborate with the DCPCR, Government of Delhi to launch a Fellowship that will place young professionals with the local authorities working with child rights. 

What Will You Do?

The Fellows will get an opportunity to work on-field in the assigned district for 1 year while receiving training, mentorship, and support for professional development from government officers and the program team at CRF.

As a Fellow, you will:

  • Improve and monitor implementation of schemes & programs of DCPCR. 
  • Introduce innovative solutions to address district-level challenges and to support DCPCR.
  • Conduct stakeholder consultations and capacity building sessions on thematic focus areas. 
  • Draft policy briefs and position papers on thematic focus areas.
  • Perform data analytics to assist the DCPCR to make evidence-based decisions.

What Can You Expect?:

  • CRF will provide a platform for 5 young professionals to work on policy implementation, data analysis, and reforms for child rights, strengthen existing initiatives, and make a real-time impact by engaging with government stakeholders.
  • At the beginning of their tenure, the Fellows will attend a 10-day long induction which will impart a nuanced understanding of policy, governance, and legislative processes and equip them with hard skills and soft skills, to enable them to perform well during their time in the Fellowship. 
  • Refresher training on subjects related to policy, legislation, and governance will also be organized throughout the year for ongoing professional development. 
  • The cohort of 5 Fellows will be instrumental in driving stories of change for child rights in Delhi, resulting in a palpable and visible impact on the ground.

Does This Sound Like You?

Required Education and Professional Experience:

  • You have completed post-graduation OR have at least 1 year of work experience after graduation.
  • You have good analytical writing skills is a must
  • You are proficient in both Hindi and English, with the ability to read and write in both.
  • You are not more than 30 years of age as of 1st March 2021.
  • You hold an Indian citizenship

Additional Qualities We Look For:

  • You have prior experience in the policy and development sector, policy analysis/research, and formulation.
  • You have previous experience and knowledge of data analysis skills is strongly desired.
  • You have a track record of initiative-taking and successful leadership roles. 
  • You are willing to travel and stay anywhere in Delhi as per the needs of the program

Preferred Competencies:

  • Program management skills in the management of development programs including monitoring and evaluation skills, data analysis, and supervisory experience. 
  • Ability to establish and maintain strong working relationships with various stakeholders.
  • High-caliber interpersonal communication (documentation and presentation skills), advocacy and negotiation skills, and the ability to work collaboratively with teams.
  • Ability to adapt to diverse educational and cultural contexts and maintain a high standard of personal conduct.
  • Proficiency in computer skills (MS Word, Excel, and PowerPoint)
