Primary responsibilities
- Designing and implementation of the communications strategy for the project in consultation with the Strategic Communications Lead, Chief of Party and the USAID team.
- Be the point person at CEEW end to provide all communication materials or inputs to the USAID Agency Office Representative on the programme.
- Ensure that tone and messaging of every project output (led by CEEW and external partners) is consistent with the overall project communications strategy.
- Collaborate and coordinate with internal and external stakeholders including programme partners to maintain a steady flow of information and ensure synergies in outreach and communications.
- Collaborate with other members of our outreach team and external vendors on executing outputs planned as part of the communications strategy and project.
- Ensure adherence to the branding and marking guidelines of the project.
- Ensure quality control of all communications products as per CEEW standards for the entire project (including products created by partners).
- Ensure strict adherence to outreach processes at CEEW.
- Lead the conceptualisation and design of websites and dashboards in coordination with the digital team.
- Curate content for dedicated webpages for the project.
- Work closely with the media lead to provide relevant content to the media on a regular basis, identify journalists covering air quality issues and pitch interesting stories to relevant media.
- Lead on the publications process for all reports, policy briefs, issue briefs, papers under the project in close collaboration with the publications team.
- Lead on events process to execute dialogues, roundtable discussions, webinars under the project, in close collaboration with the events team.
- Develop consumable content for a variety of communications material including blogs, press releases, newsletters, social media, videos among others.
- Identify innovative written formats to publicise air quality research and updates from the project. This could include debates and explainers to make our analysis consumable for a range of audiences.
Secondary responsibilities
- Assist with building a database and relationships with a wider community of experts, scholars, institutions and potential donors.
- Respond to research requests from senior researchers, discuss research needs, and prepare responses that synthesise and analyse information.
- Support the outreach team on content-related and coordination activities as and when required.
- Support the Strategic Communications Lead and Communications Specialist on special projects.
Selection Criteria
Qualification
Preferably Master’s/Bachelor’s degree in Strategic Communications, Public Relations, Marketing, or related fields.
Work experience and other skills
- Preferably 5-8 years of work experience.
- Proven track record of conceptualising and executing communications strategies.
- Experience in working closely with partners.
- Exceptional project management skills.
- Excellent writing skills and demonstrated ability to calibrate communications to resonate with internal and external target audiences.
- Excellent grasp of the English language.
- Excellent communication skills.
- Excellent eye for detail.
- Creative thinker with demonstrated success in implementing out-of-the-box content ideas.
- Demonstrated abilities to take ownership, manage multiple priorities and internal/external resources in a fast-paced environment, while meeting deadlines and quality standards.
- Strong drive and initiative, a self-starter.
