The specific objectives of the programme are as follows:

  • To help women nano and micro entrepreneurs identify opportunities to diversify or expand businesses in the current COVID-19 context, understand their rights and entitlements and access avenues to improve their lives. These would be facilitated by the SSKs 1and the Agewans (local grassroot leaders).
  • To strengthen social enterprises promoted by SEWA Bharat to help members prepare for and respond to COVID-19 through market-based approaches
  • To support the creation of an enabling environment that allows micro entrepreneurs and enterprises to thrive.

SEWA Bharat will implement this programme in 10 states, such as Delhi, Uttarakhand, Rajasthan, Punjab, Bihar, West Bengal, Jharkhand, Madhya Pradesh, Gujarat, and Nagaland. SSKs are present in various forms and models across the states with the commission objective of
outreach.

Job Description:

We are seeking a suitable candidate for the role of Research Coordinator, who will be responsible for the research requirements of the programme. The Research Coordinator will play a critical role in the learning team of the program providing their support in delivering the
research requirements of the program to the research team. The Research Coordinator will be specially responsible for a) coordinating with various stakeholders engaged in the research activities, b) provide support and managing grassroots researchers for data collection purposes, and c) leading the reporting research activities and progress to donors, and internal and external audiences.

The Research Coordinator is expected to manage a team of researchers and grassroots researchers, lead research projects, produce quality deliverables, and ensure the learning questions of the programme are answered through the research activities.

Responsibilities:

  • The Research Coordinator will be leading the research team of the program.
  • Managing and delivering research activities from formulating research questions, research methodology through developing research outputs.
  • Develop and manage program activity timelines, study budgets, and tracking documents for management of study, site progress, and logistics.
  • Manage and oversee research projects, especially in ensuring the high quality of all deliverables.
  • Work closely with the Research, Communications and Outreach, and Program teams as needed.
  • Mentor and guide researchers.
  • Assign and follow-up on timely completion of all deliverables.
  • Coordinate and document study communications, including conference calls, donor meetings, and investigator meetings.
  • Collaborate with public and private sector partners, including academic and research organizations, to facilitate implementation of program objectives.
  • Conduct data analysis and draft study reports and manuscripts in collaboration with the study team.
  • Develop skill and capacity building for all researchers and team members.
  • Support with fundraising.
  • Manage donor reporting activities

Key Skills and Qualifications:

Strong academic qualifications in Social Sciences – Minimum Master’s degree; Ph.D. and M.Phil. Degrees preferred.

  • 5+ years of relevant experience in the Indian development sector.
  • 2+ years of experience in micro entrepreneurship and livelihoods
  • Strong written and oral communication skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to put together presentations and infographics.
  • Previous experience of undertaking fieldwork and field training.
  • Strong management and leadership skills.
  • Experience in developing and managing research budgets
  • Ability to multi-task and take responsibility for the timely completion of activities.
  • Previous experience of writing proposals for the social and development sector.
  • Strong Microsoft Office skills.
  • Have a network to loop in experts, advisors, and other consultants.
  • Expertise in either quantitative or qualitative research knowledge and experience.
    Preference will be given to candidates with knowledge of both.
