About the Role

The Women and Work Specialist is responsible for integrating the gender pedagogy into learning resources, training models, strategies to engage with families, institutes, industry and partners to promote gender equity across the programs implemented within the context and scope of the overall MyQuest Initiatives.  The specialist shall be responsible for Gender inclusion especially increased women participation in the youth skill development programs implemented by Quest Alliance. The Specialist primary responsibility is overseeing and ensuring the gender inclusion component in consultation with Associate Director – Youth Programs as well as cross functional leads and key staff members of Quest Alliance.  The elements of successful gender inclusion include; increased women participation in non-traditional trades of Industrial Training Institutes, Vocation Training Institutes, improved percentage of course completion, employability, self-employment of women in the emerging sectors like green initiatives, ensuring the standards of quality of gender inclusion inputs are highest level for stakeholder satisfaction. 

Within the context and scope of the overall MyQuest, the Roles & Responsibilities of the Women and Work Specialist are to:

  • Develop various gender-responsive strategies and interventions to demonstrate what works in promoting gender equity and equality in skills development sector covering the Industrial Training Institutes and Vocation Training Institutes/Centres 
  • Influence ministries of education, skills development and other policy makers to formulate and implement policies that will achieve greater and better participation of girls / women in Industrial Training Institute and Vocational Training Centres
  • Provide key inputs for gender inclusion advocacy campaigns, raises awareness among stakeholders and members of local communities on the social and economic value of women participation in the skills sector
  • In close collaboration with program leads, build partnerships and closely with ministries and other partners to replicate and scale up its successful gender responsive program models
  • Provide leadership and coordination to the Gender Inclusion in the content, training and ongoing gender based pedagogical inputs to program team and the Master Trainers
  • Lead and build Gender Inclusion strategy in consultation with coordination team and stakeholders
  • In close coordination with MyQuest coordination team, Operationalize the gender strategy
  • Provide strategic inputs and support MyQuest and Quest Leadership Team to strengthen the gender inclusion strategy for internal and external stake holders through Future Rights Skill Network (FRSN)
  • Monitor the gender inclusion strategy and implementation, collect feedback from the stakeholders for periodical update in-line with evolving context and standards
  • Build gender inclusion awareness and capacity building for the program implementing teams
  • In collaboration with program and M&E team, develop case studies, position papers on the gender inclusion in the skills development sector
  • Contribute to the conceptualization and development of Program / Project frameworks with the specific focus on gender inclusion
  • Manage the project resources and assigned budget to avoid under- or over-spending and ensure submission of timely reports and financial updates
  • Participate in professional and training events as identified by MyQuest
  • Contribute towards the development of proposals for new projects/scale ups or expansions
  • Attend to any other duties assigned by Youth Program and Quest Alliance

Requirements

Education:

  • A Postgraduate Degree in Social Work/Education (Required)
  • Certified Courses on Gender Inclusion (Desirable)

Experience

  • Minimum of 8 years experience in Gender inclusion space / teaching / training / capacity building 
  • Minimum of 5 years direct work experience in gender inclusion in education, skills develop sectors
  • Proven track record of delivering services with high impact and high-quality results
  • Experience in community mobilization and gender sensitization initiatives, learning resources development and training in the areas of gender mainstreaming
  • Experience of working with women and aspects of gender and diversity and inclusion
  • Demonstrated report writing, position papers, advocacy and policy dialogues around gender inclusion
  • Part experiences around using technology for learning would be great to have

Skills

  • Excellent awareness on the sensitivity and gender inclusion in the education, skills and work space
  • Ability to use MS office suite
  • Can work independently, with minimal supervision
  • Is passionate about the challenges India is facing in educating its youth population and gender inclusion
  • Ability to work in a dynamic and fast-paced environment with multicultural teams, government ministries and diverse stakeholders
  • Ability to ensure quality deliverables and project timelines while maintaining high attention to detail
  • Demonstrated skills for efficient and timely project planning, scheduling and managing
  • Sound judgment, excellent English communication skills and  interpersonal skills

  • Open to travel locally and across the country
