Position: National Consultant (Trauma and Burns)

The incumbent will work under the overall guidance of Team Leader (NCD) and in close consultation with the NPO (Injury and Disability Prevention at WHO India . S/he will have the following responsibilities in her/his assigned area of work:

  • Act in close co-ordination with Program Officer in Directorate General of Health Services for overall co-ordination and successful implementation of the Program;
  • Coordination with WHO, other International & National organizations and other concerned Ministries & Departments;
  • Liaise with the state governments and central government like MoRTH and other stakeholders in coordinating the implementation of NPPMTBI;
  • Assist in periodically reviewing and monitoring of the various activities envisaged under the programme;
  • Provide technical inputs on implementation of the programs by drafting technical documents, related to Trauma & Burn Program;
  • Providing technical support to Program Officer for effective and efficient implementation of the Program;
  • Formulate Annual Action Plan, along with weekly deliverables, for all the consultants and staff posted in the Trauma & Burn Cell;
  • Monitor output of Annual Action Plan and prepare monthly reports incorporating the monthly achievements in order to give a feedback to DGHS;
  • Undertake visits to Trauma care facilities & Burn Units established under the program as and when required with the approval of the competent authority;
  • Compilation of the inspection reports of the monitoring visits and evaluating the recommendations and planning the future course of action;
  • Assisting in monitoring & supervision of various activities and preparation of periodic reports relating to the program;
  • Organizing review meetings/technical workshops etc. and undertake Field visit to states for monitoring & supervision;
  • To undertake all other jobs as assigned from time to time by the Program Officer/ Senior Officers in Directorate General of Health Services on matters concerning Trauma & Burn Program and any other job as assigned; and
  • Perform any other duties as assigned by the supervisor(s).        

Qualification Required:

Education:

Essential: University degree in Medicine, Dental Sciences or equivalent in related field from a recognized institution/university.

Desirable: Post graduation in Public Health or other allied fields

Functional Skills and Knowledge:

Excellent knowledge of written and spoken English and working knowledge of local language will be an asset. Proficiency in computer applications and ability to draft reports.

Experience:

Essential: At least one year of professional experience of working with governments in at the State/Central Government Departments.

Desirable: Working experience with intergovernmental agencies at the national and state level will be an advantage.

RENUMERATION:

Monthly remuneration is INR 141,402 taxable as per Indian laws and the appointment will be through Special Services Agreement (SSA) extendable subject to satisfactory performance and continuing need for the function. S/he will be posted at New Delhi. The position may require extensive travel (can be upto 15 days in a month) to the states and districts.
