Position: Assistant Manager - Membership Engagement

Responsibilities:
1. Membership Engagements The Assistant Manager
- Membership Engagement, Knowledge Management and Communication is responsible to coordinate all the activities and ensure smooth set up of the portfolio, Coalition systems and processes and external engagements. S/he would closely work with program and operations team and expedite the process to complete the responsibilities in time. The following is an illustrative but not exhaustive list of tasks under this head:
• Build linkages with the broader food security and nutrition landscape and stronger member outreach to make the Coalition an inclusive platform and a powerful voice.
• Engage with multi-sectoral and multi-stakeholder platforms to include a diverse set of actors (e.g. social activists, technical agencies, media, academia, and civil society, members of the medical community, influential CSOs and networks).
• Be proactively involved in building and maintaining a strong Board and its governance structures and mechanism to ensure that individual and institutional members understand and fulfil their commitments.
• Support the senior leadership team and head of department as a specialist and resource to the Governance structures in all areas of programs, risk management, development, finance, policy, and governance.
• Develop database and support the members on ongoing statutory and legal compliances.
• Support organisations of the Board, Annual General Body and other meetings of the Board committees at regular interval, document the minutes and disseminate the same at a timely manner. Facilitate meetings and program events with representation of key members and stakeholders.
• Work closely with the state team, partners, and members on smooth functioning of the State Chapters/Coalitions and Secretariat. Develop investment plan and funding pipeline to sustain the Secretariat and State Chapter/Coalitions
2. Knowledge Management (KM)
• Work closely with the head of department, members and partners to develop culture and country specific evidence-based knowledge management products and models, policy briefs to generate a public discourse on key themes, functions, and sectors.
• Contribute to knowledge management portal which could function as a repository of latest evidence and improve access of information.
• Engage with stakeholders on critical technical issues to share findings from their implementation experiences, ongoing and completed research studies and to generate a public discourse.
• Support the team on stakeholder and message alignment, replication, mainstreaming and scaling up of best practices and evidences.
• Develop KM products, briefs, policy notes and engage with key policy makers and political leaders to influence public policy and legislations.
• Provide critical and technical support on research, monitoring and evaluations of the Coalition and its partners.
• Support the head of department on message alignment, replication, mainstreaming and scaling up of best practices and evidences
• Conceptualize innovations and human-interest stories and good practices and undertake field travel to support the implementation of innovations
• Based on the findings and other interventions, provide support for the development of manuscripts for publication, including adaptation of conference or resource materials, and generation of original content
3. Communication
• Develop Branding and Communication strategy and mechanisms and position Coalition as a partner of choice.
• Engage with media and communication agencies to disseminate messages on nutrition and food security across the clientele. Develop press notes, organize regular press briefs and conferences to generate a public discourse.
• Mobilise media attention at state, national and global level to the nutrition and food security issues which can influence the public policy and accountability.
• Enrich website content and expand the outreach through social media.
• Actively engage with the social media, coalition blog, and use technology and volunteer networks to expand the outreach.
• Leverage latest IT and web enabled technologies that contribute to food and nutrition security

Professional
• Ability to plan and organize a substantial workload that includes complex diverse tasks and responsibilities.
• Experience in managing/leading Coalitions, multi stakeholder platforms, campaigns and movements.
• Experience in managing studies, research and developing knowledge management products.
• Problem solving, decision making and delegation skills
• Excellent oral and written communication skills (English, Hindi and at least one Regional language)
• Human relations skills
• Ability to coach, mentor and provide guidance to supervised staff
• Knowledge and skill on introducing and implementing GED (Gender Equity and Diversity) principles.
• Able to prioritize, multi-task, and work well under pressure with frequent deadlines.
Experiences:
• 1 to 3 years of experience for the same profile
• Substantial experience in setting up knowledge management function, membership engagement and communication portfolio
• Experience in mobilising and managing multi-donor funding.
• Experience working in an entrepreneurial, matrixes, global org
Education:
• Postgraduate preferably with Management degree

Conditions of employment
The Assistant Manager will work on a short-term contract of the Coalition on a mutually agreed terms for period of 3-4 months. Based on the availability of the funding and satisfactory performance, the contract can be extended.
