Roles and Responsibilities

The responsibilities of the Head, Human Resources will include the following:

●      Articulate and execute a HR strategy aligned to Ummeed’s vision, mission, culture and priorities

●      Work collaboratively with senior management, serving as a strong HR business and thought partner

●      Supervise and mentor the HR team, support them in turn to be strong HR business partners

●      Support Ummeed to be best-in-class in HR matters such as compensation, benefits, health and safety, diversity-equity-inclusion, and others

●      Build in succession planning strategies for the organization, from identifying high potentials, reviewing their developmental needs, putting in place systems and plans to build capability at leadership level

●      Oversee all HR initiatives, systems, procedures, and initiatives for recruitment, compensation, talent management, learning and development, attritions and exits, professional reviews, conflict resolution, grievance management, and others

●      Support resolution of HR matters such as conflict management, grievance management, and violations (including disciplinary actions, where necessary)

●      Ensure compliance with labour and other employee protection laws and policies laid down by the local, state, and national authorities

●      Oversee the maintenance of up-to-date HR data, databases, and dashboards to enable effective HR decision making as well as communicating HR updates to senior management

●      Stay abreast of changes in the broader HR and social sector environment; maintain and nurture a peer network of HR professionals beyond Ummeed 

Qualifications and Skills

Ummeed is looking for a professional with a minimum of 15 years of generalized and specialized HR experience at reputed organizations, of which 3-5 years should be in a leadership role. Key competencies for the role include:

●      Excellent interpersonal and people skills

●      Ability to think critically and strategically

●      Collaboration and negotiation skills, including interest and competence to work with diverse teams and styles

●      Excellent oral and written communication skills

●      Supervision and mentoring skills, including the willingness to give team members an environment of learning, support, and independence

●      Problem solving and conflict resolution skills

●      Willingness to learn about the sector and nuances of Ummeed’s philosophy and values
