Position: Student Support Intern

Organization: Antarang Foundation

The Role:

  • CareerAware is Antarang's flagship career guidance program. Through a tightly delivered, intensive two-year program, delivered by trained Antarang facilitators, CareerAware guides students from Grade 9th and 10th in municipal schools or low-income private schools to make relevant yet aspirational career plans.
  • In the COVID-19 scenario, Antarang continued the CareerAware program online and using 1:1 calls. While only 30% students accessed the online sessions, 60% students were reached via 1:1 calls.
  • Some of the common challenges students shared was inaccessibility to a device during online zoom/hangout sessions.
  • Since, this year might be largely similar to the year gone by, the program has been redesigned to have content that students can access at their convenience using Antarang’s whatsapp bot.
  • The Student support intern/paid volunteer will work closely with antarang facilitators to drive student learning via asynchronous sessions and motivate students to stay in education and attend school and online sessions via phone calls.

Major responsibilities (via phone calls):
● Instill a safe, healthy conversation with students and parents to motivate them to stay in
education and take ownership of the program
● Collaborate and support Antarang facilitators to ensure higher learning outcomes for the
program
● Guide students through asynchronous sessions using the whatsapp bot
● Document reports about the progress of students via asynchronous sessions and share
feedback with the facilitators and Antarang staff
● Gather data regarding support required by students over the year and make
recommendations to the organisation
● Gather regular feedback from our stakeholders (students, parents, HMs) regarding the
program

Profile Requisites:

● A Graduate/Pursuing Graduation in any field with a keen interest in the Education Sector
● Passionate about working with youth & for the youth especially from a lower-economic
background
● Able to commit 4 hours every weekday for at least a year
● Proficient in English & Hindi/Marathi/Urdu
● Tech Savvy & comfortable with online learning tools
● Integrity and ability to work & problem-solve independently
Outcomes Expected:
● 75% of the students assigned should access asynchronous at least once
● 40% of the students assigned should access online/zoom sessions at least once
Stipend: Rs 4000/ month
