Position: Consultant – Civics Education

Location: Mumbai

Duration of Position: Consultation for 3 to 6 months (extendable, as needed). Candidate will report to CEO.

About the Role:
We are looking for a Consultant to work with us for the next 3-6 months (extendable as needed) to develop the above program for schools (grades 5-10)

Broadly, you are expected to take up the following responsibilities:

1. Prepare 1 to 3 year curriculum on applied civic education – this may include topics such as, but not limited to, the current state of Indian democracy and the reasons therefor, the importance of civic participation for a democracy to work, the ways through which a citizen can practically and meaningfully engage with local governments and other citizens, systems thinking and application to real projects

2. The curriculum should drive critical thinking and deep understanding by leveraging case study/research/discussions/activity-based pedagogy.

3. Suggest/conduct focused group discussions and interviews with the stakeholders to check feasibility of the content developed.

4. Leverage appropriate technology (e-learning, videos, podcasts, etc.) to achieve scale and impact

5. Develop training modules for teachers/facilitators

6. Develop session plans, modules and assessments for students.

7. Develop mechanisms to engage parents meaningfully.

8. Design and develop metrics to measure the outcomes and impact of the designed program.

9. Recommend changes/redesign the program based on feedback and learnings.

An ideal candidate should have:

• Passion for the mission and vision of the organisation.

• Master’s degree or Doctorate in Political Science, Public Policy, Civics, Social Sciences or other related areas from a prestigious/recognised university.

• 5 years of teaching experience along with 5 years of curriculum and syllabus design for any of the boards such as CBSE, ICSE, State.

• Excellent communication skills, both spoken and written English.

• Good knowledge of MS Office.

• The ability to plan and coordinate project plans independently.

• Excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to collaborate with multiple stakeholders across geographical locations.

• The ability to multitask and work in a fast-paced environment and work under pressure to meet deadlines.
