Position: Volunteer

Organization: UNESCO 

Duty Station: Remote working modality

Duration: 2 – 4 months

Main duties and responsibilities:

Under the overall authority of the Director of UNESCO MGIEP, reporting to the Head of the Rethinking Policy team, and working with the Rethinking Policy Team, the Volunteer would contribute to the following project activities:

• Collect data on the Digital Readiness Index indicators for the assigned countries;

• Cross-verify the data collected by their peers and ensure the credibility and reliability of the source;

• Document the references for future in adherence to highest standard of data collection;

• Attend weekly virtual meetings with the Policy team to update on the status of progress and for trouble shooting; and

• Perform any other duty assigned by the project supervisor.

Learning objectives

After completion of the internship, the incumbent would have:

I. Deepened their understanding of policy research, analysis, and making evidence-based recommendations to the Member States

II. Sharpened their academic research skills

Competencies:

The successful candidate will be required to demonstrate the following competencies:

1. Prior experience in conducting academic research, data collection and analysis.

2. Demonstrated ability to meet deadlines and work under pressure;

3. Demonstrated ability to collaborate effectively with others;

4. Experience of conducting statistical analysis using software such as SPSS, R, Python and similar software, and in data visualization is preferable but not mandatory

Required qualifications and experience:

Education Qualification: Master’s degree in Education, Social Sciences or in Economics with a sound experience in conducting qualitative and quantitative research and writing academic papers, short or long reports, journal articles on relevant subjects.

• Age: You must be at least 20 years old to apply

• Languages: You should have an excellent command, both written and spoken, of English. A working knowledge of any other major language in the Asia Pacific is an asset.
