The Manager –
Climate Action Practice will be required to lead Villgro’s flagship Powering Livelihoods program. Their responsibilities will include (but not be limited to):
- Overseeing the portfolio management of a cohort of start-ups working on Renewable Energy (RE) for Productive use businesses, and ensuring outcomes that have been committed in the program.
- Directly handling high-touch incubation of 2-3 of these startups, including weekly calls, diagnostic panels, mentoring technical assistance.
- Handling all other aspects of the program including outreach, partner management and donor reporting
- Leading discussions on program expansion, new funding opportunities
Apart from the program role, the Manager would be expected to participate in the following internal activities:
● Periodic analysis and reporting of program progress to Villgro management
● Supporting the sector lead in developing new proposals and ideas in the Climate Action space
● Contributing to the overall sector strategy
● Mentoring junior members of the team
Selection Criteria:
● Master’s degree – in business, technology, economics
● 8-9 years of experience in roles in the decentralized renewable energy sector with strong field experience
● Experience in large programmes with significant stakeholder management, understanding of the rural economy, livelihoods and value chains, and MSMEs
● Experience with social impact enterprises or impact investing is desired.
● Strong track record of team and project management including timely delivery of outputs
● Strong interpersonal and communication skills; ability to engage with senior officials and business leaders
● Ability to work in an interdisciplinary and multicultural environment with willingness to support and guide the work of others in the team
