Roles and Responsibilities
- Leads the development and implementation of Raintree’s Environment thematic, Conservation Strategy (community-led approach) and Ecosystem restoration in our identified geographies i.e. presently in Velhe Taluka of Pune district - part of Northern Western Ghats
- Ensure smooth execution of the program plan and design on the ground with clear outcomes in coordination with the Program Manager, Field Implementation
- Collaborates with the Program team for implementation of the Sustainable Landscape Management (SLM) program
- Leads the team and coordinates all project and technical partners in line with the conservation strategy.
- Responsible for all aspects of project management, including a robust monitoring and evaluation system for projects that ensures the best practice in program management and timely reporting
- Ensures strategic engagement with relevant international and national stakeholders on environment and ecosystem conservation, and technical issues, including strong engagement on policy, advocacy and rights based approaches issues;
- Hold a diverse portfolio incl. capacity building of the community on environmental and ecosystem components , sustainable waste management practices, developing an approach on accessible energy, implementation of village/cluster level environmental committees and more.
- Develop multi-sectoral partnerships and ensure convergence with government schemes and programs
- Lead effective planning for all program related risks and challenges
- Collaborate with the program functions to meet their communication needs for the projects and initiatives
Qualification
- Master’s degree in an appropriate field (Conservation/ Environment /Natural Resource Management/Forest) and other related discipline
- Additional training in management and development studies is helpful
Experience
- Minimum 12 years of relevant experience in working on development and implementation of conservation programs incl. strong field implementation required
- Experience in program and project management in environmental/biodiversity conservation is required, leading program and field teams is preferred
- Prior experience in leading ecosystem conservation projects mountainous regions such as the Western Ghats is preferred.

- Strong understanding and experience working with and in leveraging various government programmes and schemes (State and Central Govt.)
- Ability to synthesize best practices and work to incorporate them in projects and program
- Builds strong working relationships with all employees across multiple verticals to execute an integrated program
- Be highly organized and most importantly, personable and approachable.
- Proactive problem-solving abilities
- Ability to present information to diverse stakeholders
- Fluency in English and Marathi required
