JOB OVERVIEW:
The Research Assistant will assist the Consultant and Project manager in the execution of various projects for clients. Specifically, this position requires working in the area of digital health interventions where large amounts of health data is investigated and analyzed using various machine learning and statistical approaches. The position requires working independently, coordinating with team members and clients spread across different time zones. In this role you will be reporting to the Consultant with no direct reports.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Assist the team in the execution of various digital health research projects for the clients. This may include the development of research reports, statistical models and undertaking literature reviews.
- Development of research protocols to undertake public health and health services related research.
- Develop a deep understanding of the data warehouses, terminologies, and interoperability standards in healthcare.
- Coordinate and contribute to the development and/or validation of research tools (like frameworks) and informatics tools with the client.
- Provide support to the client for CGD Health’s products.
- Develop a deep understanding of patient linkage.
- Use and adopt various open-source algorithms and tools.
- Contribute to the development of documentation and training materials.
- Support the team with the dissemination of reports to the wider community.
SELECTION CRITERIA:
- A post-graduate qualification in Health Informatics, Health Information Technology, Health Information Systems, Health Information Management, Public Health, Health services or any related field. Alternatively, equivalent experience in a research setting may be suitable.
- Candidate must have at least one first author publication.
- Full-time relevant work experience of at least 2 years; Fresh graduates will be considered if you are able to demonstrate other selection criteria.
- Experience and/or skills in development of technical research reports and project proposals.
- Experience and/or skills in dissemination of research reports.
- Experience and/or skills in R, Python, and SQL (Postgres and SQL Server).
- Experience and/or skills in the use of statistical tools such as R, SAS, and SPSS.
- Experience and/or skills in health terminologies and interoperability standards.
- Good understanding of statistical and or machine learning principles.
- Good knowledge and experience with the use of research methods such as quantitative. analysis, qualitative analysis, and systematic reviews.
- Strong written and communication skills.
