Senior Specialist Qualitative Research

Position Summary:

IAVI is seeking a skilled and motivated Senior Specialist who is responsible for the design, development, coordination, and management of qualitative research-activities towards supporting IAVI’s health-systems and policy research initiatives in India. Using methodological expertise in social science, this position facilitates improved understanding of diverse stakeholder perspectives, contexts, and devise frameworks to generate evidence to inform policy.

Key Responsibilities:

• Identify and help frame relevant research questions in collaboration with project teams.
• Develop research strategies, including deciding on the most appropriate research methodologies.
• Develop and pilot/test qualitative research tools (questionnaires, interview guides etc.) and qualitative analysis plans for projects at hand.
• Collect and analyze qualitative data using range of approaches e.g., in-person interviews, analysis of documents.
• Prepare reports/presentations/manuscripts, as required across various stages of project progress.
• Support in operational functions including stakeholder communication and management. 
• Support drafting of study proposals related to qualitative research.
• Perform other duties as assigned by the manager.

Education and Work Experience:

• Post-graduate in social work, development studies, sociology, anthropology, political science, philosophy, psychology or other social sciences or public health is required. 
• PhD in social sciences or public health is desirable.
• 3 to 5 years of demonstrable experience in conducting qualitative research is required.

Skills and Qualifications:

• Proficiency in qualitative analysis software such as NVivo/other similar software, required.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills, including data visualization skills are required.  
• Critical thinking and problem-solving skills are required.   
• Ability to work proactively with in team environment required.  
• MS Office Product experience required.  
• An innovative, pro-active and flexible approach to work highly desirable.
